Anybody fly into Sanford Airport? If you did what airline were you using? Thanks for the info.

Louise

I have not flown into SanFord, but I read a post several months ago by a gentlemen that flew on Pan Amercan from Worcester, Ma. Apparently the old bankrupt Pan Am has been restarted and in the air again. Try this website for airline information:

http://www.landings.com

From there you can get to any airport with a website and then check the airport website for the airlines that operate at that particular airport. Maybe Sanford is listed.Good luck.

I checked the Sanford Site and it appears Pan American
and a airline called Air 2000 are the only airlines. This seems very limited if true. You may want to run a request on Http://www.orbitz.com. Put in your departue airport and Sanford as the arrival airport. You should get a list if any other airlines fly there.

I`ve flown into Sanford twice and will be again in July 2002. My flights were part of a package. A lot of British tour operators use Sanford rather than Orlando International. Air 2000 is a British airline.

Very few airlines use Sanford. . (Only Pan Am for domestic flights as far as I know.) You would be better off flying into Tampa as you have to fight I-4 traffic through Orlando to get to Disney

You're right about Pan Am and Air 2000 being the only airlines. The airport is TINY! It is much nicer since they rennovated last year. The first time we took Pan Am into Sanford, we had to walk from the tarmac to the airport, and the baggage claim was out in front of the airport on the CURB!!! The airport is easy to maneuver, and you don't have to worry about lost baggage or air traffic control.... one plane at a time... only a few planes a day, it's hard to screw things up at such a tiny airport. Pan Am is a TERRIBLE airline, though. I don't suggest you use them.

The ride to Sanford and back from WDW is an easy one. We have never encountered any major traffic, even in the morning.

I asked our Happy Limo driver about Sanford once because I'd heard that Pan Am flies into there from Gary, Ind. (we live near the Indiana border, so that would be doable if the price was right). He said that it is mainly international travelers. I've considered trying Pan Am, but right now they only have one flight a day, and that makes me too nervous. We mainly go to Orlando for Disney cruises, so if the flight got cancelled for some reason, we would miss the ship. Maybe we'll do it if their service ever expands. It would be a welcome relief from O'Hare.

Good Call, antigeg! I wouldn't rely on Pan Am if you're on any kind of a schedule. They're famous for 8 hour delays for unscheduled maintenance, and for cancelling. They only have a few planes, and they use all of them. IF something happens to one of their planes, their whole schedule gets thrown off because there are no back-ups!

If there are cancellations you may wind up stranded at small airport with only a few airlines.
I arranged a trip for my daughter to Philadelphia last winter and bad weather delayed everything. I think the delays would have been even worse if there weren't many other flights to switch to.
