Friends are flying into Sanford airport in early May. I'm trying to help them plan their trip. What are their options for getting from Sanford airport to Wilderness Lodge and back again? Any ideas on costs?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I've used a private car service in the past. The cost was around $200 or so, not including a gratuity. I've also rented a car. That was a very easy process. The ride is pretty easy and straightforward. It does take about an hour to get to WDW from Sanford.

Any suggestions on towncar services that are good? I've seen some horror stories....

I've rented at sanford and it went well. I like having a car even on property with my little ones. Cheaper too! Our rental for four days in May was under $100 for an SUV, compact was prob 1/2 that.

I've also rented a car at Sanford. Super easy experience. I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but we felt it was reasonable. I'd definitely recommend going that route. Then you have a car on property too, which is a great bonus.

We have used Tiffany Towncar from Orlando International airport many times. We are going to try them from Sanford. Not interested in renting a car.

I used Tiffany Towncar at Sanford. It worked very well. But.....that was about 10 years ago.

I'd probably rent a car. If they don't want to keep it, they could drop it at the Car Care Center at the exit of MK (if an Alamo/National rental). Of course, they'd have to reverse the process going back. Plus it might just be cheaper to keep it.

Renting a car is the least expensive and most flexible. It's great having a car on site too. I've been spoiled flying the smaller airport, security and grabbing a rental in seconds.

Rent a car. You won't regret it. Gives you tons of flexibility. And, IMHO, it's quicker to drive to the parks except for, at times, the Magic Kingdom.
