My local airport just started offering direct flights to Orlando - Sanford. My problem is, how does one get from Sanford to the parks? Is there a shuttle, towncar service, or is rental car the best way to go?

Our flight from England arrives at Sanford and we have booked a limo from HAPPYLIMO. Someone to help with the luggage and free drinks and snacks for the kids.(roses for mrs also).
Have a great time.

I would vote for a towncar too. We use Happy Limo from MCO, but when Pan Am used to fly from Gary, Ind. to Sanford, we asked if they do pickups there. They said absolutely, but unfortunately Pan Am discontinued the flights before we got a chance to try it.

I'm flying into Sanford in August and opted to rent a car. Town car rates from Sanford are quite high (as much as $100 each way) and I found I can rent a car from National and return it to the car care center for no drop off fee for less than $45. It may be a bit of a hassle but it saves the $$!

Cashout -- I was just to ask the same question. I bet you are from the "Forest City" too. I am so glad to see flights out of Rockford. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi

This will be the second year of landing at Sanford from the UK.

We used VIP limo services as we found them to be the cheapest.

They were reliable, friendly and very helpful.

Included in the price was a 20 min grocery stop which was invaluable for us as DVC members, going to a studio.

hope this was helpful

Our airport is adding this service too. Does anyone know that cost of going from Sanford to Port Canaveral?

I noticed that the last reply was from a fellow Ohio from Perrysburg- We live in Oregon, Ohio. I think you are referring to the TransMeridian Airlines that will be offering flights- 1 per day- out of Toledo Express. I will be interested in seeing how this works out- I had not even heard of the airline until it's name was printed in the paper-really cheap rates now- I just don't know whether I can take a chance on only 1 flight out and in per day.
I think Sanford is suppose to be another airport similar to Toledo's though. Anyone knowing about this airline? They supposedly fly alot to Cancun...that's what the AAA agent said from our area- I bleieve she said it was a slightly larger plane than Spirit...

TransMeridian is also flying out of Rockford, IL starting next month; hence, this thread. We only have one flight in and out also. I just think that it beats shuttling into Chicago.

From what I have seen, it looks like you can rent a car for less than it would cost to take a towncar from Sanford. I like the convenience of having a vehicle on-site, even with Disney transportation.

Sorry Rock'n Robin- I had a little typo there- I meant fellow Ohioian-We have 3 sons- two that attend Clay- one will be a freshman and one is a junior and one is in elementary school:) We plan on leaving a couple of days before springbreak to take in the Kennedy Space Center, Universal, and then finish with WDW. I'm just having mixed feelings about airlines. We could use our points, but if TMA is giving such cheap rates, I'd rather save our points for a different vacation. It would be great to fly out of Toledo and avoid all that traffic on the interstate north. Hubby is not convinced that he wants to fly on a plane that has only one flight out that day- especially since spring break is before Easter this year and early- we could still be having snow up here!!! Geesh, just the thoughts of it makes me want to fly now to Florida:) Well, I hope as time moves on we find out how dependable TransMeridian Airline is... Also, we're planning on renting a car to go over to the space coast and then returning it at PBH- so I would check and see if there is a rental company on site at the hotel you will be staying at.
