If we go to DtD on our last day and stop at Earl of Sandwich, will we be able to take the sandwiches through security at MCO? I know that no condiment packets or anything would be allowed, but would the wrapped up sandwich be OK?? We have a 9:45 breakfast at Boma and so we probably won't be ready to eat again until around 4-4:30, but our flight is at 7:30pm, meaning a DME time of about 4:30. I was thinking about going to DtD after breakfast and maybe grabbing a couple of sandwiches before heading back to Pop Century around 3.

You'll be fine. Unless there's about 1/2 cup of mayo, they don't even blink (and sandwiches are definitely allowed). Also, with that sort of DME time, you can just eat them on the bus if you're nervous.

Did this last trip. Had two sandwiches with me. Never was questioned.

Awesome! I've been wanting to try Earl of Sandwich for quite a while now and this may be the perfect opportunity! Our flights are usually in the afternoon, leaving us no time to hit a park/DTD on departure day. Plus, if we decide to hit a park (like Epcot), we could always grab a sandwich at one of the CS locations.

Yes! this is fine :)
I often have a lunch/dinner packed for the family, made at home or purchased. I would purchase the sandwiches "dry" without condiments and then put the condiment packets in my 3-1-1 bag to add to the sandwich later so it doesn't get soggy. I have a collapsible soft sided lunch bag that I use; on the way out I use frozen grapes as an ice pack on the way back I fill a ziplock with ice, dump it prior to security and then refill it after security to keep things cold/fresh.

Be careful to allow enough time to wait in the insane lines for the sandwich shop. I was there around 11am on a Saturday end of November and the line was at least 100 people deep.

Only exception I found was if you are flying internationally and have to go through customs before boarding (meat is usually a no-no)
Ran into this on a direct flight back to Canada one time. They confiscated our Quiznos sandwiches.
Shouldn't be a problem for domestic flights.

Do you clear Canadian Customs at MCO? Is there a separate area to wait for the flight after clearing customs?

This is only a problem if your country has you clear in Orlando. SO for a lot of countries this is not an issue.

I think this was the day I was there. Our plan had been to hit EoS and then head back to our off-site hotel. The line was so long, there were about 20+ people waiting out the door outside. We figured it might let up and not be so bad a little later. We checked back about 2:00 and it was still out the door, but only about 5 people then. We ate at B&C instead since I was able to get a last minute reservation.

When reading this, I had a mental image of agents looking for lunch and deciding Quizno's sounded good. :teeth:

I remember getting sent to a special customs line after declaring candy - this was prior to TSA and September 11th. The agents rolled their eyes, checked our bags, and then found us a shortcut to the plane for our trouble.

Actually you are not allowed to eat on any of the buses.

DD and I have always hit EOS before boarding DME to the airport. We eat in the courtyard before you go through Security and people watch for a while then hit the Security line when it looks smaller. Oh and of course there's the opportunity to hit the gift shops just one more time!!! We "hit" a lot of stuff this way!!!

I had this so planned out last time we had our dining plan. Sandwhiches right before the airport, all packed up. I had a ziplock of ice I dumped at the airport. My dh was so helpful, he knew no liquids. Well, I got on the plane got our served drinks reached for the lunch bag, it was missing? He told me he threw them away!
WHAT!
I couldn't believe it, four counter service Earl of Sanwhich meals, gone.....insulated lunch cooler, empty.
I have no clue why he didn't ask, he is never "Helpful."

Oh, and I totally forgot...my mother and I both have our birthdays in October so as long as I sign her up for the EoS club, we can both grab our sandwiches for FREE!:yay:

Does he even feel bad about it? Silly?

What was he thinking as he threw away something you had just purchased a couple hours before? Mystifying. If DH did that I would still be waking up at night, just staring at him, wondering WHY...
