Sandusky - Is Kalahari worth twice as much as Great Wolf?

We are looking for some place to stay for 2 nights before traveling to NYC for a cruise. Kalahari was our first choice but is double the price of Great Wolf using a Great Wolf early booking rate.

The only difference in the room is that the room at Kalahari has a kitchen which would means we could do groceries for breakfast and lunches.

We have 2 teen boys and a 9 year old and 6 year old. Would the teens be bored at Great Wolf? I have the money budgeted for Kalahari, so I don't really mind paying the extra as long as we are going to get our money's worth.

We live about 30 min. from Kalahari and have looked toured both of them, but ultimatly deceided not to. We can not justify the price it is nothing close to Disney, yet they charge the same if not more. I can pay for two nights at PC for one night at Kalahari.

But the yes if your going to stay at one or the other Kalahari is way better. Enjoy your stay.

We have stayed at the Kalahari in Sandusky, and the GWL in Williamsburg. The GWL in Williamsburg is new, and very nice. If I remember correctly, the GWL in Sandusky did not look new - so you are probably comparing apples and oranges. The Kalahari was fabulous. The room we stayed in (a 2 room suite with kitchen) was new and very comfortable, and well worth the money we paid to stay there. My kids loved the Kalahari indoor waterpark much better than the GWL's in Williamsburg.

I think Kalahari is well worth the price, especially for teens. We haven't been to Great Wolf Sandusky but assuming it is comparable to the one in Traverse City the waterpark area is much more tame than Kalahari.

Kalahari has more, bigger, and more thrilling slides, plus an indoor wave pool. Great Wolf is more about the non-slide water play areas and those don't appeal to my teen as much.

We live about ten minutes from the Kalahari in Sandusky and we love going there. I think it would definitely be the way to go. Keep an eye out for discounts--they are out there. For two nights you might want to just go with a Nomad room it sleeps six (has a pullout sofa bed). We stayed about a month ago in a Nomad for $120 a night and that included tax. The suites with kitchens are very nice too-but we tend to only stay in them if we are staying all week. There are plenty of nearby options (and easy to get to) for food if you choose not to eat onsite.

Kalahari really has something for every age, so no one would be bored.

I have stayed at both and hands down we like Kalahari. If you will be there any time after Memorial day the outside pool area will be open which is nice. The overall pool area at Kalahari is much bigger than GWL. Follow them on twitter to get their unpublished deals.

Great place for dinner is Danny Boys. To get there when leaving Kalahari turn right stay in the inside lane. Just before you get to the first traffic light is Danny Boys located on the left side of the road. They have great pizza. Heres the link

We have been to both and they are both nice. If you had little ones, I would say go with Great Wolf. Since you have teens, I think you would be better off with Kalahari.

When are you going? If it is in the summer, Kalahari has a great outdoor area, we actually prefer to go in the summer!
