We're leaving for WDW Sat. It's supposed to rain each day we are there, I expected that. I planned to bring a good pair of sneakers for every day, and a pair of Go Walks as backup, and flip flops for the pool. When I asked about ponchos, people were suggesting waterproof sandals. Do you think they are necessary? I don't have any, neither does DD. It's too late to order them online so we'd have to pay full price at a store and I'd want to get good ones with support for all the walking ahead of us. Do I really need them? I wasn't planning on this expense

The last time I wore sneakers in the rain at WDW, it took them about three days to be completely dry. We wore Keen sandals last year during TS Andrea (lots of rain for three days, more rain during the rest of the trip) with no problems. They dried quick and we didn't have to mess with wet socks. Necessary? Probably not but worth every penny to us. Mine are still in good shape, DH has had a new pair since then, but he wears them all the time.

I found a pair of marked down strappy tevas with good arch support on Amazon that will get here Friday for $55. You're probably right, worth the expense.

Just a hint for to dry wet sneakers.....crumble up newspaper and stuff it inside. Dries them overnight....

Just swing by walmart. They have cheap but comfortable sandals that are pretty nice hanging on the rack. I actually used a pair of .98 cents flip flops and while they were great for the most part, when wet out they were very slippery. I ended up taking them off and walking around bare foot during those times. Which i don't suggest... Swing by walmart and see if they have something hanging that you like. Make sure they have a real sole with a real tread...

I had a nice pair of Easy Spirit sandals at Epcot one trip. In Futureworld, it was pouring buckets, rivers of water pouring down slopes towards drains. My sandals literally fell apart into pieces. I had to throw them away, and walk barefoot to Mouse Gear for some cheapie flip flops.

But I wouldn't recommend flip flops for all day at the parks. Maybe for potential rain events, get Walmart cheapie sneakers or sandals. Will you have a car, or a backpack with you to carry some rain shoes? And you should have a few Walmart plastic bags to put your good shoes in, when you switch to rain shoes.

We leave on Tuesday! The only shoes I am bringing with me are two pairs of Abeo flip flop style sandals. I have plantar fasciitis, and these are the best things I have ever worn.

The first time we did August a few years ago, I was wearing my standard sneakers and socks. I got such blisters from my feet being so hot...and then getting caught in the rain and my feet soaked right through.

Through a lot of trial and error, I have found that supportive sandals in August are a must. It is going to rain *every day*...not all day, but every day. It is vital to have something on your feet that can get wet without causing rubbing and irritation.

I totally feel your pain about the expense, but happy feet at Disney World are priceless. :)

I hate sneakers so I only plan on wearing flip flops in the parks. I put a lot of research into my sandals and came across the Sole shoes. I have had them for about a month and wear them almost every day. Yesterday I spilled a giant cup of iced tea on myself and a majority of it went on my feet. My shoes were soaked but I couldn't change before work. They didn't rub my feet and they dried in about an hour with no problems. After that, I feel safe in saying they will handle getting wet pretty well. The website shows you exactly where you can find them locally.

I wear $9 flip flops from Academy all day, rain or shine, in the parks. I prefer flips flops in the rain because tennis shoes are so hard to dry. Love my go walks. I imagine those would dry easier if you prefer an actual shoe. I would forgo spending a lot on shoes you don't need. However, a good pair of teva sandals are great for any occasion.

if all you have is shoes, OP then I would suggest packing a couple of extra pairs per person- it saves you the money, and you have alternate pairs to wear while other are drying....:thumbsup2 I pack a minimum of 2 pair anyway for just that reason- you can even slip a ziploc baggie over your foot, and under the shoe to keep your foot fairly dry while at the parks - if you lready have the sneakers then don't worry overmuch, every room has hairdryers! (or a laundryroom so you can toss shoes into the dryer there also)

I could never do the parks in flip flops, I need arch support. But the Tevas come yesterday and are comfy so far. I'll wear them to work so it's ok I bought them. Trying to convince DD that she should get waterproof sandals but she told me she wouldn't be caught dead in sandals like mine. 15 is so much fun! I never realized how little I knew until I had teenagers. So she's going to bring two pairs of sneakers.

We wear Flip Flops all day and have no problem, better when it rains. My doctor told us that it all depends on what you wear usually, I am a big converse, flip flop, ugg type of gal, always will be, it has caused me to have naturally strong arches and that enables me to wear flip flops all day

I don't wear them everyday in my real life, but for WDW I swear by regular ugly Crocs - with the strap down at my heel. Slather my feet in Body Glide and I am set for whatever weather happens, because Crocs are waterproof, and I never get blisters and we are hardcore. :thumbsup2

my daughter staged an intervention and my crocs were pried from my hands and sent to Goodwill. Little does she know I have 2 pairs as back up. Crocs are really wide on me, I don't think I could do the parks in them. I wish my feet weren't so picky

Everyone has different feet, so you will get many different answers.

We were in the parks two weeks ago... I wore my trusty, comfortable New Balance sneakers. I'd be in agony wearing anything else. I brought two pairs so I could alternate each day.

Summer afternoon thunderstorms are bound to happen. We were inside an attraction each time, and never got wet feet.

I saw people wearing all kinds of shoes including flat thin flip-flops (ouch!) or high heels (double ouch!)

Bring a couple of pairs of whatever you are used to, and buy something down there if what you brought doesn't work. I saw crocs flip-flops in a couple of resort stores.

Teva Mush flip flops, I have worn them for years. Last year's rubbed a sore spot but a bandaid prevented it from being sore. No issues this year and they never feel wet, even after walking through a 2" deep puddle!!!

I couldn't agree more! :dance3: I wear ABEO sandals too and they are awesome! It's ok if they get wet and they aren't slippery and don't cause blisters. The built in supportive arch is awesome and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day. I paid $99 for mine but they hold up well and I've worn the same pair on several Disney trips.
