Is it a good idea to take sandals to WDW? Im also worried that if we are ridding something like soaring, we woul loose a sandal. :rotfl:

After getting blisters the last time I wore tennis shoes, I wear Teva sandals in the parks, exclusively. I have two pair, one with ankle straps and one that is a flip flop style. If I am riding something where I fear they will fly off, I just take them off and sit on them.

My husband had flip flops on when we went to ride soarin. The the CM told him to take them off and store them under his seat during the ride.

Actually on Soarin' they tell you to take off your sandals and leave them on teh floor in front of you, so that they won't fall off during the ride. They are right there waiting for you when you come back for your "landing". :flower:

On rollercoasters my dad always sits on my sandals. Once they made me wear them ((not inWDW)) on an upside-down rollercoaster. They were fine, I just pushed my feet down to the floor.

Wearing my Nike tennis shoes, I got blisters by the second day, so I switched to Teva sandals and wouldn't think of wearing anything else now.

watch your toes getting on and off the rides. I smashed mine last October and the black part is just now going away. (sorry if this was TMI)

just make sure your feet dont stink

I almost always wear my Birkenstock sandals to the parks and I have never had a problem with them. It does get a bit uncomfortable if I get caught in a rainstorm and then have to deal with soggy toes for a couple of hours until the footbeds dry out. :sunny: Overall though, I find them much more comfortable than sneakers. Just make sure they are a comfortable pair with good support.

I wore open-toed, sling-back Sketchers to a local amusement park this weekend. Not only did I get blisters from them, but my own DD6 stepped on my toe twice and it hurt! I wore them as an experiment because so many posters say that they would only wear sandals to WDW. I have always worn running shoes (lightweight, breathable) with socks to parks, so I thought I'd give the sandal thing a whirl to see if it was comfortable. I have to say, I never get blisters with sneakers/socks and my feet are protected from strollers and other hazards on our miles of travel on WDW park days.

Please note, I didn't get blisters from these shoes before. I would think there are others out there who wear sneakers, but most posters discuss wearing Tevas and the like with no problems.

I wear sandals, (not the flip flop type) the whole time I'm there. They are more comfortable for me.

Won't go to Disney without my Brooks sneakers, best ones around

I wore sneakers and socks in January (it was hot during that time) and my feet were hot and hurting everyday by lunch. In May I wore Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals, Teva Mush flip flops, Croc Beach, and Croc Nile sandals. I got two small blisters from the Croc Niles, but was able to wear both pairs of my Tevas without any problems. My feet loved the Tevas. I was wearing the Teva Mush flip flops when I rode Soaring. We were told before 'take off' to remove sandals or flip flops and leave on the ground where they would be waiting for us when we returned. You come back down in the exact same place you lift up from.

Like the other poster said though, make sure your feet don't stink and be sure to have a pedicure before you leave so your toes and feet will look nice. There was some pretty grungy looking toes out there. :earseek:

I'm regular at the parks and I always where my sneakers. Just be sure your feet can handle your sandles for a long period of time. Cause walking at Disney is differrent than a regular day of walking. I tried sandles one day. They never hurt before, but after awhile at the park they started rubbiing.

I purchased these sneeks (in tourqiose) just recently (only $25 at DSW Warehouse!!!) for Walking/our up comming trip to WDW. These kicks have been absolutely wonderful to my tender lil' feet :flower: I can't wait to finally try them out in WDW finally!!!

I wore well-worn Vans and slightly less well-worn O'Neil trainers in March (with socks) and my feet were fine. Only blisters I got were on the way back from kali river rapids in AK, when I kept my flipflops on because I couldn't be bothered to change back into trainers. It was hot most of the time, but we also had a LOT of rain - my Vans got so soaked in Epcot the red trim (inside) turned my socks pink!

I always wear running shoes with good socks. Never had a blister. Different story with sandals, they're always rubbing against my heel or top of my toes. Running shoes also give your feet the support sandals can't.

I swear by Birkenstocks. They are sooo comfortable, I hate wearing runners when your feet get wet coz u have wet socks and its just yuk!!
