Sandals help - Mens/Women's - Not your regular question

Keens anything. Super comfy, very good quality that will last a long long time. REI had a sale recently, might still be going on.

Are you saying you do NOT want crocs? There are SO MANY styles including some that would fit your description of needs.
Correct, I do not want Crocs. I know Crocs has some sandal models, but the rubber tops just pinches my feet & rubs too much. I love the squishy soles, but I haven't found any without rubber tops too.

I love my Rykas that I bought last year. They are the only sandals that didn't give me blisters on the bottom of my toes when I wore them to the parks. They held up pretty well in the rain too when we got caught in our annual Epcot "monsoon".

Do those keens rub on the back of your heal and cause blisters?

I have many crocs sandals and wedges without rubber tops -- in fact most of them. Some have a cloth material, some leather. Might be worth checking out their website.

I'm breaking in a pair of womens' Chacos & Tevas right now and doing well with both. They are Chaco Z/Volv X (not the toe strangler ones) and the Teva Tirra. The Chacos are not for everyone. They have a very high, rigid arch but that works perfectly for me as I have a high arch. It takes time playing with the one strap system (pulling & tugging) to get the strap just right for your feet. If you have flat feet or flatter feet, they could be painful. The Teva Tirra are not as fussy and easier to wear out of the box. Def break your new sandals in very well before WDW. Better to find out about hot spots & blisters now. If possible, go to a brick & mortar shoe store and try them on first. Then find a better deal online if you can. Good luck!

Another vote for Vionic sandals, which used to be Orthaheel. They are the only sandals that have a high enough arch support for me. I walked all over DC in a pair two days in a row without problem. I know you aren't interested in the flip flops, but for sizing, both Nordstrom and DSW sell their flip flops. They fit the same, I'm normally a 7 1/2 and they say to go down, so I wear a 7. They don't have half sizes. The strap sandals I bought and wore all over DC I got on Amazon, better price than other places.

Both my DH/DS & I are in need of suggestions for good sandals to walk 14hrs in Disney with. We do have some specifics though. We have varying foot issues (me mostly: plantar fascitis, joint issues), so we are looking for something with soles that are kind of squishy & have give to them . For the guys, they are looking for the same kind of sole, straps that aren't super thick, & overall lightweight. For me, I'm looking for the same, but the straps have to be few & thin. These are my go to sandals now & they work pretty well but there's a lot of straps & I just need something different to swap every other day. We aren't interested in any sneakers or the like, crocs, flip flops or slide on. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

I would be willing to bet these are related. My suggestion would be to ignore every shoe recommendation on here and consult a podiatrist, physical therapist or at least visit your local running store (not Academy, an actual running store) and have them recommend a sandal that fits each of your specific needs based on foot issue, stride, gait, etc.

Someone's recommendation of a shoe to you based on their history is about as important as their favorite color.

I second the Keens. They are so comfortable that even my DH bought a pair after I made him stuff his foot in mine just to feel them. I also have a Columbia pair that look similar to what you posted, OP--soft squishy soles and skinny straps--but can't remember the style name.

My oldest pair of Keens in 6 yrs old now. I have never rubbed a blister while wearing a pair. They do run a little bit small - I normally wear 8-9, I need a 9.5 in Keen sandals.

I second Abeos! You can get them at The Walking Company in many different styles. I have several different pairs in sandals, flip flop, sneakers, and dress shoes, and they are all the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

My podiatrist told me that one of the most important things to help with my plantar fasciitis is proper heel support. I wouldn't be able to wear most any of the suggested shoes above (though I have worn vionics that aren't sandals). I went to DSW and touched a lot of shoes before I was able to find a pair that are kind of gladiator sandal-ish (though softer).
