We are having an outdoor ceremony and would like to do a sand ceremony. Does anyone have a little reading for this?
Any place that is better to buy the kit?
How do we trasnport it home without ruining it? I'd like a kit that has some kind of top. I wonder if melting some wax could seal the top?

Can't help you with the reading (looking myself!) but I can tell you where we purchased our sand stuff:

We got the actual holder from Michaels using coupons and bought 2 skinny, shortish glass vases from Michaels as well.

We are ordering our sand online-- can't remember the name of the website right now!

Also, my wedding planner told me that the sand ceremony will get ruined and that you'll either have to "touch it up" or just redo it completely when you get home sooo buy extra sand! :thumbsup2

We had an outside ceremony (Epcot Italy) and did not want to do the sand ceremony - we did the candle ceremony - and I am very sorry we did this. We could not get the candle to light - at all - so we just went through the motions.

Here is a sand ceremony holder that I just love.

You can pick the color sand and have the glass engraved.

We are thinking of doing a 5 year anniversary party in Epcot and then a Disney cruise - so maybe we will have all our friends and family that do this with us do a sand ceremony with us.

Here are a bunch of sample sayings I found on line. Just google Sand Ceremony sayings and you will come up with a lot.

Bride and Groom Unity Sand Ceremony Wording Option #1
(Name) and (name), just as these grains of sand can never be separated, our prayer for you today is that your lives together would be longer than the time it would take to separate the individual grains of sand. (Then you can simply play beautiful music as you and your beloved slowly pour!)

Bride and Groom Unity Sand Ceremony Wording Option #2
(Name) and (Name), you have just sealed your relationship by giving and receiving of rings and the exchange of a kiss, and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives The most beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship. You have committed here today to share the rest of our lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you (Bride name) and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, (Groom name), and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers f sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

Optional to above
As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be, united as one for all of your days

Bride and Groom Unity Sand Ceremony Wording Option #3
_______ and _______, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives.

Bride and Groom Unity Sand Ceremony Wording Option #4

Bride and Groom Unity Sand Ceremony Wording Option #5
_______________ and ______________, today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you'll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

If children are a part of the new family, the sand ceremony can involve them also. Some families choose a different color for each member.

Just as an FYI - I like #5 the best.

Happy planning.

This was our sand ceremony.....

Sand ceremony
Megan and Nick, You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. We have witnessed your giving and receiving of rings and the exchange of vows. Now we will observe you create a lasting visual representation of these promises. The sand ceremony represents leaving your two separate lives and joining to make one life together. You see before you six vessels of sand. Your separate lives are symbolized by two vessels of sand, in different colors. To grow a relationship requires more than just two people. It requires the love, support and encouragement of family members, extended family and friends. Today we have chosen four more vessels to represent each of your parents. These represent the commitment they made to you at your birth, the love they carry for you in their hearts and their fervent hope for your future happiness and prosperity. I now ask George and Robin Menchen, Janice Gallespie and Mark Teismann, to pour their individual vessels of sand into Nick and Megan's central vessel as the foundation for this marriage. (Each one will have different colored sand). Megan and Nick will now pour their individual vessels into the central vessel. Megan and Nick you have just performed your first ritual as a deeply committed couple. Your newly formed union and the union of your two families, is represented by this intertwined pattern of sand you have created. Just as you could no longer separate the newly formed pattern into individual grains, so are you now joined together. This symbol is a keepsake of your wedding day and reminds you that from this moment on, you are one family, anchored in love.

Thank you for all the info! I did check Michaels today and they had 3 different sets to choose from. They had very limited sand colors, however, and the few they had were awful so I will be ordering the sand itself online. They had teh heart shaped one for 30 bucks instead of the 50 you see online, but it will not be engraved.

Thanks all!
