Sand and Sun ~ Trip Number Ten Was Lots of Fun! Clearwater Beach & YC, August 2013

Look how big the boys look in front of Potato Head!!:( They are too big.

I'm so glad that Jack got his oven mitt.:lmao: If Beau had of gotten one it would have been torn up in three minutes. Jack is so proper and he keeps his toys nice.
:rotfl:

At least you didn't have to stay at the Lego store forever-- even though you just had to wait in the WOD store.:goodvibes

Cute shirt!!! Glad you found the calendar. Seems like that would be something that every store would carry????:headache:

We had a fast pass for lunch at BOG in September. There was quite a line, but we went to the kiosk & was ushered right in. I had preordered our food so we just picked a table & our food was brought to us.

We didn't get any email, I saw the info here on the Dis. It took awhile before I could get the FP, but it let me make the ressie when it got closer to our trip.

Hmm.... Maybe it will work closer to the trip. I'll have to try again in a few weeks.

I know. Too big. Too hairy. Too teenager-y!! :(

Those things are surprisingly strong!! Jack is pretty rough on them and they are still in tact!

Yeah, we did a good amount of shopping that night in very little time! :goodvibes

How strange that the CM's didn't know about the calendar. Love your new word "Teenager-y" made me lol, I've got all that to come in about 6 years!

Really wanting to get this TR done before the next trip, so here's some more...

:yay:

We got on the bus a DTD at 6:05 and at 6:40 we pulled into the YC. Not bad for a DTD bus ride!

We got back to the room and the kids had decided that they didn't really want to come with us to see IllumiNations. I had a feeling this might happen. DS12 wanted to tear into his new Lego set and DS14 wanted to call his girlfriend. :upsidedow So, we decided not to argue with them and just let them stay in the room.

So, a little before 8:00 DH and I headed out. We took the single elevator at the end of our hall, but then went the other way and out the back/side door towards the Dolphin. From our resort map we thought that might be where the YC quiet pool was, and it was!

We took the long way around to get to Epcot and went over for a stroll along the Boardwalk.

We arrived at Epcot and took a right into WS and headed for our favorite spot for viewing IllumiNations. But not before stopping for a Grey Goose Slushy first!

I've had this drink in Epcot before and it was really good. This time, not so much. It was very strong and I knew I wouldn't be feeling so well if I drank the whole thing. DH ended up drinking it!

We arrived at our spot, near Japan. We had hoped to be a little further to the right, but that area was already taken. Where we were was a great viewing spot as well, but it was SO hot with that torch lit right there in front of us.

We waited a little bit and pretty soon IllumiNations started. Beautiful as always.

Then we walked back to the YC and called it a night.

Up Next: What would we do with our free day since we weren't going to Typhoon Lagoon?

We have never seen Illuminations from Japan. We'll have to try it next time. Um that would be in 2 weeks!!!!
One thing I really miss about staying on property is letting the kids stay so we have some alone time. I never really worried about them for some strange reason, and knew we were never really far away. But now with the condo we can't do it anymore bc we about 40 min. away and it still doesn't feel like home. Maybe if we lived there it would be different.
I'll also have to try that grey goose slushy. I've had the grand marnier before. The last time it was too strong for me too. Lol I'm such a light weight. :(

It sounds like you and the hubster enjoyed your evening together. Sometimes, when the kids are acting all teenage-ry, it's not worth fussing with them and best to leave 'em be. Good call on your part.

We watched Illuminations close to Japan this last trip and it was a very nice viewing spot. All of your pictures turned out so good.

We love watching it from that side of Epcot! :lovestruc

It is convenient to be able to leave the kids and go to dinner or somewhere within walking distance. ::yes::

You are right -- they can just stay behind and act all teenager-y!!!! ::yes:: :rotfl:

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the IllumiNations pics. :goodvibes

World Showcase at night, Illuminations..... my happy place! :goodvibes Glad you and your DH had a nice evening out together! I've seen those drink before on other TRs and yours looked like it was too melted???? Must have been the heat getting to the drink before you could!

How many more days to you have left for this TR? What do you have about 40 days before your next trip?
I was so excited to see today that Beaches and Cream are taking reservations now. I just added some for our January and May trip.

WS at night is awesome! :goodvibes

You are right - it was really melted. Not enough "slushy". :confused3

Sounds like a perfect end to the evening :)

It was a nice evening. ::yes::

Let's see... I just finished up Thursday, so I still have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to do. :faint: We went home on Monday morning.

Well tomorrow is 6 weeks, so 42 days tomorrow!! :cool1:

I saw that B&C is now taking ADR's. Interesting. Those will probably be hard to get (once people realize they are taking ADR's) considering there are so few tables in there! :upsidedow

I missed this yesterday somehow.

That's nice that you and DH had a night alone for awhile. I'm sure the boys enjoyed their no parental unit time too.:thumbsup2

We haven't seen Illuminations in about 4 years maybe? I can't remember. It's been a long time. I always have it on the schedule and we are always too tired to see it once it's time. Must do it again, because you're right-- WS at night is beautiful.:cloud9:

Never had one of those slush things either. I'm sure they taste wonderful!

Can't believe you're so close to your next trip!!!:rolleyes1

It was a nice night. And yes, the kids definitely enjoyed a parent free few hours!! ::yes::

WHAT??! You haven't seen IllumiNations in how long??? :faint: You've got to do that next time!!!!

The slushy wasn't as good as I remembered it. :confused3 DH sure thought it was good though! :rotfl:

YEP - 6 WEEKS today!!!

We area party of 8 for our January trip and I had to split our reservation into two tables of four. When I called Disney they said that B&C will only take parties of 4 or less for reservations.

Did everyone hear they are taking the FP machines out of AK and opening up the FP+ to everyone?? Curious to see how that goes...

I heard that has been done in the testing phase at AK. Everyone has to schedule FP+ either online or at a FP station. I read about it on easywdw

Yeah, I guess the non Disney resort guests have to make them at a FP kiosk when they get to the park. They can't do them ahead of time.
