The pics of this resturant look amzing!! But ppl in our group I know won't like that type of food. Can you order normal food?

What's not "normal" about the food at Sanaa? :rolleyes1

IMO, it'd be pretty obnoxious to go to a restaurant with an expectation that they'll cater to your dining phobias.

I think I would just try to find a restaurant that everyone in your group would enjoy. I don't think I'd find it an enjoyable experience if I felt that someone would be unhappy and risk listening to their complaints during the meal.

Personally, I loved it. My wife didn't care for it at all, though.

There's no American-style food there other than the kid's menu, though. My son got the kid's pizza.

Well, that food is "normal" to me, but I do understand what you're asking...

Perhaps you should go for lunch, the menu says they serve a burger, grilled pork chop and a club sandwich at lunchtime. In the evening they also serve New York Strip, and beef short ribs which most people consider "normal". Of course, there's also a child menu with "normal" stuff on it.

I suggest only going there if that will be ok with your group, or go anyway and see it as a chance to try food that is not "normal" for you. I consider that fun on vacation, but YMMV.

Menu available here:

Edited to add that it's one of our favorite restaurants at WDW, particularly because they serve "not normal" food!

We love the food at Sanaa and make a point of going several times each trip. You don't have to be an adventurous eater but you do need to be open to new flavors. The tomato soup is pretty innocuous but most of the dishes are very flavorful.

None of the food is run of the mill The burger is not your run of the mill burger. It's not on a bun but on Naan bread with a unique sauce and shredded lettuce (quite good).

I would not go there, though, if I thought anyone wouldn't enjoy it.

JMHO

Thanks for the input. I know some would enjoy the food but some are VERY picky eaters and don't go outside the normal american food at all. I was just wondering if they even had like a ceasar salad or something the others could eat. Maybe the lunch would be better. Is the atmosphere worth the risk?

You can ask for the sauce to be served on the side with the burger. I also forgot to mention that the tandoori chicken is something that many people who have never eaten this type of cuisine often love. It's basically just roasted chicken, but better. ;) most non-adventurous eaters will like tandoori.

I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the menu. My husband made an ADR at Sanaa when he booked a surprise trip. He was really excited about all of his plans. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I was less than thrilled with one of his choices. So...we went. It was awesome. The atmosphere, the food, the service. It was all wonderful. We enjoyed it so much that we ate there again later in the trip.

It can be quite a gamble to plan to eat at a restaurant when you have diners in your party that aren't sure about the cuisine. However, some of them might be pleasantly surprised if they give it a try.

If your group is not adventurous at all and only likes American food they recognize, then.......NO. Don't risk it. Save it for when you are there without them. There are PLENTY of other restaurants that will suit your group better.

I'm sure that what is on the menu is what's normal for this restaurant. If people in your party won't like it, then I'd skip it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Our children just ate off the kids menu but they loved the bread sampler platter.

My husband had the Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned
Choice of two served with Basmati Rice or Five-grain pilaf

he was able to have all 3 from the below list, he really enjoyed it

Chicken with Red Curry Sauce
Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce
Beef Short Ribs

I had the sustainable fish and it was incredible. I didn't find anything too over the top. The bread sampler platter was actually suprisingly good. my kids enjoyed it!

The menu looks perfectly normal to me. In fact, it looks delicious and I can't wait to try it.

I have to admit, it irritates the heck out of me when I read things on this board about wanting "normal food" or about the abnormally picky eaters that only eat burgers and chicken fingers.

I kinda get the normal food question. I'd love to try what Sanaa has to offer, but the rest of my group is put off by anything that isn't steak and potatoes.
If Sanaa had some "normal" food, maybe I'd get there sometime. Otherwise
I'll never get Sanaa-tized.:confused3

This is why there are choices :)

Sanaa has a very specialized menu and it is not for everyone. Some love to try new things, others prefer the comfort of known. Nothing wrong with that!

Sanaa may not be the right choice for your party, but there are so many other choices!

Have fun planning! :cool1:

I just looked at the menu and it sounds delish. We are going to be staying at Kidani (1st time) in February. I have 1 of 3 kids that would not eat a single thing on the menu UGH! Any chance that they could just make the kids pasta with butter not the disgusting manwich sauce?

If people in your group won't like it, then why go? I tend to skip restaurants that don't serve food I enjoy. Sanaa is our very favorite WDW restaurant and I'd prefer they didn't switch to serving burgers and chicken fingers. They serve chicken, fish, shrimp, and short ribs--al of which are normal foods.

If you and your party want to see the animals, stop by Kidani and go to the public viewing area outside. It's right by Sanaa.

I just went here with a guy who is pretty much just a meat and potatoes person. He came along to be a good sport.

We went for lunch and he had the burger, which is served on Naan bread. He actually said it was the best burger of the trip! He had the sauces served on the side and didn't care for those, but the meat, lettuce, and tomato on the Naan he enjoyed very much.

So while very picky eaters are not going to find something they like, shouldn't you get to go somewhere you want to try? You can eat at restaurants with plainer food for the rest of the trip.

I'd hate to have to eat a boring 'burger and chicken' places for the whole trip just because people are picky! There are burgers (albeit with naan bread but if they don't like that then just eat the burger!), ribs and strip steak on the dinner menu. For goodness sake there's only so many portions of chicken strips you can eat in any one vacation! :confused3

I guess it depends on what you'd consider "normal food." Menus such as Liberty Tree Tavern (I'm assuming that's normal food?) seem thoroughly unappealing to me. I agree with the suggestion of Tandoori chicken. I think the NY strip is tame. The sustainable fish is very good too and light (not spicy at all).
