Sanaa Restaurant at Kidani Village

I wonder what "insufficient notice" is. Personally I don't have a problemwith the policy, but I'm a little concerned about families who encounter legitimate, last minute issues.

For the restaurants and meals that currently require a prepayment or a credit card guarantee (CRT, dinner shows, Akershus, California Grill and the Fantasmic Dining Package at Studios) it's usually 24 to 48 hours cancellation deadline. The deadline seems to vary by restaurant/event.

Although that phrase appears in all the restaurant summaries on the website, WDW has not announced or given official reason to believe that it will begin requiring credit card holds for any other restaurants than the ones listed above.

So when do you think I'll be able to book Sanaa? I'm staying at AKL from May 9 to 16. We will be leaving around 6 pm on the 16th. Will they still be opening May 1st with Kidani or May 16? I'm wondering if it will be walk up until the 16th and then you can make ADRs.

Allears.net has had it posted for awhile that DVC members can start making reservations Feb 16th. Non-DVC members can book 2/23.
It's to open 5/1.

kenman says : I think the big reason why there is no counter service is because you have a kitchen! Isn't that the point of a vacation club to have a home and make your own meals. I think thats why they are called vacation homes not hotel rooms. When you think about the villas at WL have no dining at all, and a way to small pool. If I rented a dvc I would make my own meals to save money esp breakfast, $16.00 for a breakfast is just crazy!

I disagree...not everyone has a full kitchen. If you stay in a studio all you have is a microwave & a small frig.

And the comment above about VWL......it is a MUCH smaller and much more compact resort. A VERY short walk over to the main Lodge which has 2 sitdown restaurants, 1 food court and a limited room service menu. The smaller pool at VWL has to also be taken in comparison to it's small amount of rooms. The VWL has all of 136 units. It's comparing apples and oranges to Kidani Village Kenman.

Kidani Village---especially parts of it----will be quite a hike to Mara over at the main AKL. Maybe the resort can provide segways or something to get over to Mara ;) ;) ;)

So who got ADRs? ;) I know ya'll (DVC) got first dibs on them this week!! LOL Did the CM say it was on the DDP and how many credits it is? I've only got a few more days and I'll book my ADR too!

Got our ressies, but didn't ask about DDP, since we use the TIW card instead.

We have an ADR for 8:45pm on 5/6 at Sanaa. I had read on intercot that Sanaa was going to be 1 TS credit, so I didn't ask specifically when I booked. When I was on the phone with the CM, I made a ressie for a signature restaurant (Brown Derby) and she was careful to explain it would be two credits. She didn't say anything about Sanaa being two credits, though.

When I spoke to MS this week they did guarntee me that Sanaa is a 1TS restraunt (at least for now).
Last year we had a sampling of the food from Sanaa at the Doorway to Dreams presentation. I thought it was a bit on the spicy side (which I like) and was very tasty. We had a couple of salads, a beef/lamb rool on a stick, chicken satay and a couple of other items. I will definately try it on one of our upcomming trips.

I made a reservation last week and confirmed that this is a Disney-owned and operated restaurant (not contracted like Spoodles or a Landry's restaurant like Yak and Yeti).

I have food allergies that the Disney restaurants work with but that Landry's does not - so I was happy.

We have dined at Sanaa Sunday evening and we totally enjoyed the
experience. The flavours were bold and savoury, it was fun to try and
share different items. The server was very informative and attentive,
all the selections he recommended hit the bull's eye!
Sanaa it's a good value as well, they only the one point on the
Disney Dining Plans and the prices are very reasonable by all standards.
Very nice kids menu too.
We will visit them again before going back home to Weston.

We ate at Sanaa on Monday night. We are vegetarians and they had a few things on the menu that looked interesting. We ordered several different things and shared them.

The two appetizers we tried were really good: the samosas and the roasted cauliflower with tomato sauce. The salads were OK (we liked the one with the chickpeas and the carrot and orange, did not like the one with roasted potato).

We ordered the bread and chose naan, roti and paneer paratha. The naan was good, however I wish they offered whole wheat naan as an option. We ordered the hummus, onion raita and mango chutney with the bread and all three were good (the hummus was the best of the three).

The main dish we ordered (Dum Biryani wrapped in bread dough) was terrible. It was boring, not particularly flavorful and what little flavor there was was odd. It was unlike any vegetable biryani I've ever had and not in a good way. The only vegetable in it was eggplant which I don't particularly care for and why they decided to wrap white rice in white bread dough is hard to fathom unless you are carb loading.

We intended to order the lentil side dish but forgot so we'll try that next time.

We would eat there again, but next time we will order just the samosas, the cauliflower (which was the best dish of the meal), try the lentils and some naan with hummus, hummus and onion raita. That would be plenty of food for the two of us.

It's a shame about the biryani -- that is one of my favorite dishes to order in an Indian restaurant and I had high hopes their version of it would be good too.

Thanks for the review Lisa.....we'll be having dinner there at 5:15 pm tommorrow.

For our week long visit in June we were planning on only eating one meal on the Disney property(lunch at Cinderellas Castle). But I saw some things written about Sanaa, especially how it has views that look out over the Savannah at Animal Kingdom, and decided to book a dinner there. The food looks interesting, especially the curry's(I just hope they make it spicy), as well as the fish wrapped in banana leaves. the scallops appetizer, the duck appetizer, and the bread offerings

Ill report back with pics after our dinner.
