Sanaa Restaurant at Kidani Village

That bolded part is interesting because, unless I'm misremembering (and I could very well be), it was originally going to be like Boma's: BREAKFAST and dinner.

I'm sorta glad to see a sit down lunch place added to the mix....
On the public DVC website it states "lunch and dinner" and on the members' site it states "breakfast and dinner". I reported it to MS. The response I got stated they didn't know which one was correct and they would pass my email along.

Oh, I just love the "do not know which one is correct," response, don't you?

LOL.

Guess we'll find out eventually! I think breakfast and dinner makes the most sense, just because of the way you would assume MOST vacationers at WDW eat. You'd think most of them are in a park for lunch...or would want to eat NEAR the parks. Breakfast and/or dinner...I'd suspect the chances would be better you'd have them "closer to home" to eat in the resort.

I'll be happy either way. But it would be nice to have SOMETHING other than grab and go available for lunch at Kidani. At Jambo, you have Mara.

I think I stated this the wrong way around. It was B&D on the public website and L&D on the members site. Now I see the public site lists it as L&D. Hmmm.... either they updated the public website and changed "breakfast" to "lunch" or I had it the wrong way around when I reported it to MS. I can't log in to the member's website to verify how it is listed there but I'm wondering if they changed this on the public website.

If somebody wants to check this, log in to the members website, then choose "destinations", AKV, Dining and then look at the description of Sanaa.

Here's the copy and paste from the members site:

"Dining at Kidani Village (scheduled to open early 2009)

Sanaa
Indulge your senses! Sanaa, meaning "work of art," defines the atmosphere and the cuisine at this restaurant — with beautifully prepared food and an atmosphere simmering with style. Wait for your table in the comfortable 24-seat lounge that is adjacent to the spacious dining room. Savor lunch and dinner here.

Maji Pool Bar
Maji means "water" — water, water everywhere! If you're looking for something cool to drink to revive you from the heat, whether it's water or something more unusual, look no further than this bar located near Samawati Springs Pool. "

From "Member Getaways" to "DVC Resorts", then clicking on AKV, then on Dining.

Edit: Honestly, looking at the two pages now (public and member)..the text looks like a C&P from one to the other. Different font on the members page and some format differences makes me think they C&P'd from the public page over to the members page. But that's just my hunch....I could be wrong.

That's very interesting! So now both sites state the same thing, lunch and dinner. I have no idea if this is the way it's really going to be but it's an interesting choice if the info is now correct. The only other place open for lunch at AKL/AKV is The Mara. So this would give them a second option for lunch but would mean Kidani guests would have to go to Jambo House for breakfast at either Boma or The Mara.

I've heard (from my guide and then from another DVC CM) that the pool bar area and the gift shop will both feature some grab and go items. I asked, specifically, about refillable mugs and was told there were plans to have a refill station at one of those two spots (I'm thinking the pool bar).

We'll see, I guess.

Thank you, this would definately be a good thing!!

I believe that's how it will be on opening, but remember that Artist's Palette was the only eatery planned for SSR originally. Guest demand caused them to open Turf Club. I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar happen at Kidani Village: if enough guests complain about the lack of a CS restaurant, they will add one.

I suspect that BLT will also face that kind of demand: all those people in the tower won't want to have to go all the way over to the CR Concourse to fill up their mugs or buy some food items for their villas. I expect that within a year or so of opening BLT will have some sort of gift shop (like the BC Marketplace with some food items) and perhaps a CS eatery as well.

Now where did I put that crystal ball of mine?

Just wanted to add the difference between BLT, SSR, and now Kidani as it relates to dining options later on after construction.

The major diffenences is convenience. Guests complained about a dining option at SSR due to convenience. Disney assumed guests would go to DTD for TS options, but guests decided it was too inconvenient to go to DTD and complained. Disney finally got the hint and put in the Turf Club.

BLT will probably not be a problem since the Contemporary resort will be connected to BLT via a covered walkway/bridge. In addition, the Contempo Grab N Go will be a rather short walk from BLT. Bascially, both towers will feel like one community with little separation.

Kidani Village and AKL are large resorts. The walk between Kidani and Jambo will be 1/2 mile; longer depending on what part of Kidani your room is located. I have the feeling guests in Kidani will not want to make the trek over to Jambo for CS. If this is the case guests will complain, and eventually DVC will add some sort of CS option at Kidani; more so than just limited sandwiches from a refrigerator case or pool bar. I'll be curious to see how much the two resorts feel like one community, and if Kidani guests want to make the walk over to Jambo for CS.

Not the DVC website but WDW's link to Sanaa:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/animal-kingdom-villas-kidani/dining/sanaa/

There will be no lunch at Sanaa, only Breakfast and Dinner. There will not be room service for B, L & D. Also, there will be no CS but rather a grab-in-go kiosk for fountain drinks, fruits, snacks, etc -- nothing cooked.

All of this can/may change after they open, depending on the requirements and requests of the guests. However, when Kidani opens, this will be the arrangement. As a PP stated, due to the rooms having kitchens, there will be no 24-hour food service provided via the resorts kitchens. One more bit of proof: if AKL doesn't have a formal sit-down venue for lunch, why would its DVC off-shoot? Answer: It won't.

Wow...thanks for the link......at least if you stay in Jambo House you have Mara and limited room service. Hmmmm.....this just seems weird that the two sides (Jambo House and Kidani) can have such different offerings for it's Members. I forsee JH stays in our future..........

Thanks for that link. I was surprised that they changed the info on the public DVC website from B&D to L&D since I had assumed that B&D was correct and it was the members' website that was incorrect in stating L&D would be available. I expect if Kidani guests had to choose between Sanaa serving breakfast or lunch, they would choose breakfast. Where are you getting your information Condorman?

Also interesting about the cancellation policy:

A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking.

ETA: I see this same policy listed for Boma as well. Has this information always been displayed for all of the TS restaurants or is this something new?

Yep...this is how I feel Lisa.......like I mentioned, this whole thing is probably going to push us to reserving at Jambo House.

Kenman, I hope you get to go visit Kidani this year. We stayed at Jambo last year for the first time, and were totally hooked. I'm not sure what highway it is, but I took a back road out of AKV, drove about 1/2 mile, and was on a major roadway, with groceries, fast food, etc. We can always go that path if need be. The swimming pool looks like it's gonna be fabulous.

You can take W. Access Rd. which mergers with Black Lake Rd and ends at HWY 192. This is a very, very quick trip, and as you say, 192, is full of shops, restaurants, fast food and grocery stores. In fact, perhaps too much so. The word tacky comes to mind. Its close proximity to this road (it is actually visible from the parking lot) is one of the things that has always turned me off a bit to AKL. Too close to reality for my taste. However, I once thought WL wouldn't appeal to me as it was not on the monorail line. Now it is our favorite resort and we bought into VWL. In that spirit, we are going to try AKV-Kidani in July for a couple of nights. I have a feeling the animals and the pool are going to be a big hit with DS 7. I, for one, will enjoy trying a new restaurant like Sanaa.

Right there with you!! With young kids, unfortunately, I have zero use for a table service restaurant. Would love another counter service like Mara.

I am going into this club...DH and the kids are very picky eaters...They will not eat at either table service and now I can add a third to the list...I too wanted another counter of some kind that is closer to the village..Oh well, it is a done deal for now...No use going back and fourth about it...Those of us in the picky eaters group get the short end on this one...

BTW, we still cannot wait for our stay in July...We want in that new pool ;)

When can you book for this one, is it 90 days out like everywhere else?! Has anyone seen a menu yet?

Yes, 90 days out.

Disney doesn't publish menus. I doubt that will be known until the restaurant is actually open and researchers from websites that post menus have had a chance to report-in with details.

Thank you, I will add it to the list for 90 days! Can't wait for our intrepid DISers to get in there and report back! :rotfl2:

We're booked for Kidani Village from May 2-9. It looks as though reservations are going to be taken on 2/16, so I'll end up "bumping" Crystal Palace for this meal instead. Crystal palace was good, but it's not anything we can't get locally.

I think the big reason why there is no counter service is because you have a kitchen! Isn't that the point of a vacation club to have a home and make your own meals. I think thats why they are called vacation homes not hotel rooms. When you think about the villas at WL have no dining at all, and a way to small pool. If I rented a dvc I would make my own meals to save money esp breakfast, $16.00 for a breakfast is just crazy!

I stay in studios -no kitchen there - I'd have to microwave everything.

Disney doesn't publish menus.

According to this new thread on the restaurant board
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2084523

WDW has begun to publish restaurant menus on its website.

A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking.

According to reports, yes, it's being displayed for all TS restaurants.
