For those of you who have eaten at Sanaa after dark, can you still see any animals? Do they have the savannah area lit up at all?

Thanks!

The area is not lit up, but there is overflow lights from the hotel itself.

The animals aren't out much after sundown, but are best seen between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm (feeding time). Mornings are good too, but that's not what you asked about.

There are some tables that are along the windows that will afford a view of the outdoors, but not many.

Don't go there expecting to dine while watching the animals, and you won't be disappointed. Well, you won't be disappointed in the view.

We went there with the kids for dinner last year, and we thought we would see at least one animal. Well we couldn't get seated by the window and though the kids tried they didn't get to see anything from Sanaa.

Yeah we love Sanaa but its definitely not for animal viewing. Its on the ground level of the resort which is actually worst for viewing die to all the fences, staircases, foliage, etc. Fantastic food though! Although kiddies will want to stick to the generic kids meal offereings, since the Indian/African flavors are fairly pronounced!

Some pics of us at Sanaa at a window table last year:

I don't agree that Sanaa is not good for animal viewing at lunch, but you have to be lucky. I agree you only get the view if you get a table in the correct spot, and the animals have to cooperate also.

This is part of the view I had at lunchtime in September '09. This photo was taken from one of the central window tables.

Also be aware that if you have a window table and the giraffes happen to come up this close, there most likely will be other guests approaching your table so they can see out the window.

A week ago today - sigh, wish we were still there - we ate there for lunch around 1 pm. It was mainly cloudy, mid 60's. We managed to get a window view and saw many animals. I have to say this was absolutely our best meal all week. My DH and I absolutely loved the food. We did change from a dinner reservation to a lunch one for the very reason you are mentioning. I was worried about it getting dark and the animals not being around or visible. But I would recommend this totally for just the food, the animals were just a bonus!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going for the food, so the animals would just be a plus. I'll be there about 1 week before daylight savings starts, so it will be still be dark for my 7:00pm ADR. I tried to make one earlier so I could catch the tail end of the daylight, but 7:00 was the earliest thing I could get for 1 person.
