I'd like to start this thread and try and keep it as the definitive "go to" for ?'s about San Pedro. I currently live in San Pedro moving from West LA in 1999 where I lived for 19 years, originally from Macedonia, Ohio. I have lived in the Los Angeles are since 1980. My wife, Alison, was raised here in San Pedro so she has seen it all!!

I find San Pedro to be very misunderstood by TA's throughout the world and those that live in SoCal but are outside the area. San Pedro is definitley a working port town but has plenty to offer cruise passengers as well as those looking to kill an afternoon before heading to the airport.

If you have any questions in regard to our beautiful town please feel free to ask and I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Welcome to San Peeeeeeeeedro!!!!

Hi neighbor. I live in the South Bay.

I am often asked for pre-cruise hotel recommendations in SP. Any suggestions?

It was sad seeing the Mariner of the Seas leave Sunday, 1/16.

The top two hotels are the Crowne Plaza and the Doubletree Inn. CP is in downtown and within walking distance to the majority of amenities in San Pedro. The DTI is more secluded in the marina and they will need to use the shuttle to get around. There is also the Sunrise on Harbor which is close to downtown. Nothing fancy but it's a room and close to shops and restaurants.

How would you recommend someone without a car get from the Queen Mary hotel to the World Cruise Centre in San Pedro? Any idea what it would cost?
Also, what car rental agencies are nearest to the World Cruise Terminal in San Pedro?
Thanks, Debbie

You would have to take a cab or the hotel shuttle if they offer it. Cab would run about $20. Only one rental agency in San Pedro and that is Enterprise which is located next to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Downtown San Pedro.

I'm jealous... I was thinking of Busy Bee earlier this morning. Just too far from HB for just a sandwich craving :)

For transportation you can also get Primetime Shuttle, but I think that getting a cab is the best option.
