I'm looking for some help from people who've either been to San Francisco, or those who live there!

I'm trying to figure out which excursion(s) to do while i'm in San Francisco in a few weeks. Currently i'm booked on the Hop-on-Hop-off San Francisco City Tour AND Views of San Francisco - Adult Only Departure.

I'm wondering if they are too similar.

Any advice that people can provide would be greatly appreciated!

When we were in San Francisco last year, we purchased a combo ticket on a hop on hop off tour. There are two major HOHO companies there. Don't know which one you are booked on, and right now I can't recall which one we did. But the combo ticket included San Francisco, Sausalito, and a night tour that went out to Treasure Island.

The first night (we overnighted there) we took the night tour. And the next day, we took the full bus tour around San Francisco ( it went over the Golden Gate Bridge also). We were traveling with my mother-in-law and her husband, they can't walk much, so we just went all the way around (noting what stops we wanted to get off on the next time around). The second time around, we got off several places, as well as the Vista Point stop (north side of the Golden Gate Bridge). That's where we caught the Sausalito bus tour.

It really covered a lot.

I don't know the Views of San Francisco tour that you mentioned. But I would think (since San Francisco is actually not all that large), it would cover some of the same things. Have you checked the descriptions of the two to see where they go?

On my last Disney Cruise that visited San Francisco in 2012 we stayed overnight in the city so I did the Sausalito and Alcatraz tour and then ventured off on my own to ride the cable cars, visit China Town and did a lot of walking around the waterfront. Being an avid hiker I do enjoy the outdoors and when I'm in that SF area I like to take a little trail walk in Muir Woods. I would also suggest if you enjoy wine to consider the Sonoma Wine Country which I have done before with friends. Good luck selecting your port adventure.

Vacationed in SF a couple of times and here are our rankings :

1 - Alcatraz
2 - Muir Woods
3 - the waterfront (pier 39, Boudin)

After those, visit to Ghirardelli store, see Lombard street, ride a cable car, see China town. If you have a lot of time and like historical disney stuff, the Walt Disney museum is over by the Presidio and really interesting.

I live in SF and if you're looking for a cheap way to see the City, I want to recommend looking into San Francisco City Guides. I volunteer with the organization and we provide free walking tours all over SF every single day of the year (I give 3 walking tours myself). None of the tours last longer than 2 hours and most are easily accessible from the cruise terminal (I'm happy to give recommendations or directions).

I'm also a member of the Walt Disney Family Museum and can't say enough good things about it. :)
