San Diego zoo question

As far as the extra activities that will need to be paid for separately, what would you recommend?

Guided bus tour?
Express bus?
min train for the kids?
Skyfari? though I have a fear of plummeting to my death so maybe not on this one

Bus tour is a must for the zoo.
Train is fun but not a must do. If you go off season it's only open on the weekends
Skyfari probably isn't worth the $3 unless your on the far side of the park.

thanks! the bus tour is a tour around the park, whereas the express bus just takes you to somewhere else faster... is that right?

I did not know that they were only open on weekends. We plan to go in October. That's good to know!

It depends on the tickets you have, but the Guided Tour, Kangaroo Express bus and the Skyfari may be included. The mini train is not included nor is the 4d theaters. The mini train is only open on weekends. There is also Giraffe Feeding on the weekends, that is an additional cost ($10 for 3 bisquets)

Corinne, the Skyfari just completed its yearly safety inspection so you should be good to go.

The Zoo is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5 pm (winter hours). The bus covers 50% of the Zoo grounds in a 30 minute guided tour. Mother express bus is more like a shuttle, with 4 stops you can get on or off at.

The giraffe feeding sounds awesome! Unfortunately I don't think we will get there on a weekend.

I completely believe the Skyfari thing is safe. It's just an irrational fear. I'm also terrified of ferris wheels

Do you think the zoo is doable in one day (October schedule)?

You might not see everything in one day but you can get most of it done. Get there at opening, start with the bus tour which will give you a great overview. From there, hit the pandas (their line can get long) then whatever else. Depending on how long you like to spend watching the animals you should go through most of it within their operating hours. Plan before so you know what you want to see and it will make things easier that day

Thanks Cassie! I think we're going to leave Anaheim and drive out to either Carlsbad and do Legoland, or to San Deigo and do the zoo. Spend the night and do the other park. I'm thinking maybe Legoland first, but still not sure

great! We plan to travel during DD's one week off from school, so we are limited to a week, and want to get Disney, Legoland and the zoo done
