It is located right next to downtown and very close to the convention center and airport. There is a W, Hard Rock and a Hilton on the water among others.
Here is the actual address of the port:

That looks like the address for the Corporate offices, not the terminal. I believe this is the correct address for the cruise ship terminal but I'm not sure which one is being used now. There is B-street pier and Broadway pier that are right next to each other (when we sailed last may, it was from Broadway pier). Cruise Ship Terminal 1140 N. We are seniors, so I just booked one room at the senior rate of $186.15 or a total of $210.46 for one night pre-cruise.We stayed at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside. It was being refurbished when we were there last May but even then it wasn't bad. Hopefully it is finished now.

It was super easy to get up the next morning and walk to the port (just down a couple blocks and across the street)![]()
how about the hotel del coronado? The classic movie "some like it hot" was filmed there. Also, wdw's grand floridian was patterned after the del.
I live in San Diego, and work in corporate travel here in the city, so I have a lot of knowledge about the hotels here as well as the attractions, dining options and transportation. Let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to help!

Broadway Pier is usually used, unless there are multiple ships in port, which rarely happens. The piers are located right next to the USS Midway Museum.
When you say "hotel snob" are you looking for opulence or luxury or more like high end and modern styles like Kimpton and the W?
The most opulent, over the top (think Bellagio, Wynn, Encore, Venetian) style hotel downtown is Manchester Grand Hyatt. It is right on the water and at Seaport Village. You cannot beat the location. You could walk to the cruise terminal, but I would not want to with luggage.
There is a fancy, old, historic-type hotel downtown called the US Grant located hear Horton Plaza. It is also wonderful and very highly rated.
The Marriott Marquis is just south of the Manchester Grand Hyatt and some of the rooms have balconies and their pool area is very nice and tropical feeling. The hotel is directly across from the Gaslamp District.
A little further down the bayfront is the Hilton Bayfront. It is clean, fresh, modern and Miami Beach feeling to me. The only bummer about this hotel is that the Dole container ship offloads right there on the bay, so you hear the dee-deep, dee-deep all morning of the crane moving, especially if you have a south (bridge facing) room.
In the Gaslmap you have the Omni, the W and the Hard Rock. All are nice and all of the hotels I listed are less than a 5 minute cab ride away, even in traffic.

Can you (or anyone!) give me a few suggestions that are walking distance from where the ship will be docked at the port?Yea! A local! Can you (or anyone!) give me a few suggestions that are walking distance from where the ship will be docked at the port?
Thank you!!
Don't mean to hijack the post but I really need help with the Port of San Diego also!!
We booked the Westin Gaslamp Quarter with our SPG points - is this a good choice?
Also, desperately need advice with transportation (post-cruise for us)! Heard that getting a taxi at the port can be a nightmare - don't want to wait 2 hours for a 5 min cab ride! Is this true? Should we/can we book private transportation to pick us up at the port?![]()

We have stayed down in San Diego quite a few times but usually up by Sea World or north of Old Town by Mission Valley, which is a bit of a distance but there are some hotels up there that aren't as pricey but really I don't think its that far to the port from there. We are thinking of staying up that way.
We are going on the 2 night in October and my question is more about parking down there. We are coming from LA so can't have someone drop us off. Does anyone have info on that?
