San Diego hotels

We're planning a trip this summer to Disneyland and will rent a car and drive down to San Diego. We're looking for hotel suggestions on or very near the beach but won't break the bank. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Ocean Park Inn when we went to San Diego. It's on the Pacific Ocean (which a lot of the hotels front the Bay in SD) and we really liked it, but it is an older property.

Catamaran Resort had a mobile only deal where we scored a garden view room for $179 per night this coming June. It's right on the bay, and a block or two from the ocean beach. Depending on your dates the deal might still be available.

Maybe look for a groupon sometimes you'll find great deals in San Diego. I think they even has the del Coronado on there one time.
