San Diego hotel recs

I actually really like the Holiday Inn Express in Old Town. Its pretty reasonable and its nice and safe.

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn San Diego On the Bay, which my husband booked it through Travelocity. We booked a Bayview King on a high floor, and the view were awesome. The hotel is very nice, a little spread out, perhaps, as we had to drag our bags from the lobby, down the hall, through a courtyard and over to an adjacent building…but from that point on we were in the perfect location. We had an amazing view of the cruise port from our balcony. We were in walking distance of the San Diego Maritime Museum, The Star of India to the right, and The Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum and Seaport Village to the left.

This location offers several dining options. There is a Ruth’s Chris Steak House on property, as well as HI's The Elephant and Castle, which looked pretty cool. There's also a deli on property. And Anthony’s Seafood Grotto and The Fish Market are across the street.

It depends on what you want to be near, too. I have stayed at the HI on the Bay, a HI near the fishing ports, and a couple of weeks ago the Residence Inn on Hotel Circle,. which is close to Seaworld and the Zoo and/or Wild Animal park. I loved the Bay Location as it was easy to get to Old Town and Seaport Village, as well as Coronado Island. Parking fees are pretty much the norm in SD.

I went to San Diego two months ago for my cousin's wedding. I stayed at the Catamaran hotel. It was nice and I'll stay there again.:goodvibes

Stayed at the Bahia on Mission Bay. Walking distance to Belmont Park, roller coaster and beach (not just the bay). Bay on both sides of the hotel. Really nice. Real close to the freeway. This is the sister hotel to the Catamaran. They have a paddlewheel boat that goes across the bay between the two hotels.

I had a small suite and it was nice. I was there for a conference and was hearing some complaints about the view they had. I didn't dare tell them I got a suite for the conference rate. ;)

We just stayed in Mission Bay as well at the San Diego Hilton Resort & Spa.

We live 1.5 hours away and wanted to spend an entire day at the San Diego Zoo. I went on priceline, selected Mission Bay and entered a price of $100.00. Woo Hoo, this hotel was beautiful. I was thrilled at the selection we were given not to mention the fab price.

San Diego is awesome. So much to see and do all the time. :woohoo:
