Greetings!

For you Cali natives, we are interested in the Trolley Tour, Zoo, & USS Midway Museum. Since we are in port only 8:30am-7:30pm, is more than one of these doable in a single day? (I'd really like to do both the Zoo & Midway, but both look very time intensive.)

Thanks!
Gayle

If you're in port I assume your on a cruise?
If you are the Midway is almost right beside the cruise ship and only a couple of minutes to walk.
Depending on what the open/close times are for each I think you could do both. If you went right to the zoo you have most of the day there, get a cab back to port and still have time for Midway, as long as it has late hours.
Hopefully a local will chime in with their expertise. Sonnyjane works at the zoo and has lots of great info.

Hi not a Cali native but have just gotten back from San Diego ...

To get the most out of the Zoo get a ticket that gets you the bus tour and the Express bus. We didn't on our 1st trip but have on the other two.
Since time is an issue take a cab rather then dealing with public transit. There is a cab stand near the Zoo exit for the trip back.

I also think you can do both the Midway and the Zoo. I would also do the Zoo first since the Midway is just a walk away from where the Cruise ship area (plus if I could only do one it would be the Zoo)

The trolley tour is nice but it does go thru the Gaslamp then over to Coronoado before going to the Balboa Park/Zoo. It is then a 10 or minute walk over to the Zoo from the Balboa Park stop. If you had a second day I would recomend doing the trolley

It sounds like you're coming in from a cruise so your time is limited and very on schedule. The Midway ship is large but probably something you can in an hour or so. I guess that also depends on what type of person you are when it comes to visiting museums but for me, I don't know if I can spend more than an hour there. They do offer tours through the museum or you can walk it yourself.

As for the zoo, it is the World Famous San Diego Zoo and it is quite large. The best way to experience it is to purchase the bus tour which gives you a tour around the main parts of the zoo and then you can always go back and visit your favorite parts such as the Panda exhibit either by walking or using the bus system. It's been a while since I've been to the zoo so you might want to visit their website first and plan ahead. Another thing to keep in mind for the zoo is that it is in the downtown area but you'll still need to find some way to get there. The easiest may be to take a taxi but if you're really up for it, you can always figure the bus system and use that to get there.

Have fun but my recommendation would be since you're here for a short time, the zoo would probably be the better choice.
