Hi, can anyone suggest a good place to eat dinner with water views near ocean beach, mission beach, pacific beach or la jolla? Moderately priced and yes, we have a car. Thanks!

Cane's, right on the boardwalk in Mission Beach is a good place to eat. Eat upstairs and you get a good view of the beach.

The reviews on yelp seem to make that sound more like a bar/concert venue and not a restaurant, but I guess we can check it out and see.

We've just had lunch there. It does get kind of rowdy at night, I guess. There used to be a restaurant up in Pacific Beach that was out over the water. It used to be called T.D. Hays. I don't know if it's still there or has had the name changed.

I googled it and found this-

Sam's by the Sea (formerly TD Hays)
4315 Ocean Blvd. San Diego, CA 92109 858-270-6850 Hours
Sun-Thu 8am-9pm, Fri-Sat 8am-10pm Bands in the bar Wed-Sat 10pm-2am

Sam's by the Sea (formerly TD Hays) is the place for great scenery in PB. The second-level dining room has a wide-open view of the sun, surf and stars — perfect for a romantic night out or just for watching the colorful summertime people parade on the boardwalk below. The first-level restaurant is even more casual — great for that alfresco brew.

The restaurant serves the usual beach fare at breakfast, lunch and dinner: eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, pancakes, waffles, burgers, BLTs, fish and chips, fajitas, lobster tacos, pasta dishes, chicken wings, crab cakes and a popular prime-rib dinner. A full bar with ten beers on tap, more than a dozen others in bottles and a short, cheap wine list round out the menu.

Like most places in PB, this spot can get pretty busy during the summer months. It is popular with both tourists and locals, especially around sunset. Reservations are recommended for dinner. Many evenings Wednesday through Saturday, Sam's hosts live bands in the bar until 2 a.m.

Thanks firsttimer! That sounds a bit better maybe. I think we'll just play it by ear, stop whereever looks good.

While it isn't on a beach, Anthony's Fish Grotto is a long time favorite. Great seafood and views...

Interested in Del Mar? Horse race season started today so these may be too busy. www.jakesdelmar.com or www.poseidonrestaurant.com

La Jolla : George's at the Cove or Azul

PB: World Famous or Green Flash - again close to the rif-raf of the boardwalk as stated by previous post.

These are about $15-20 per person... or more if you go for the top selections.

Good luck!:thumbsup2
