Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in San Antonio that is budget friendly?

Thanks!

My brother has used priceline before in order to get a great deal with that resort near Sea World. I have stayed in the Hampton but he paid about the same price and they have lots of activities there.

We stayed here when we moved to San Antonio. It offers govt rates(which include parking usually) and breakfast. It is within walking distance to downtown and Riverwalk, though it is not on Riverwalk. You will be looking at about $100 a night plus tax here. I would definately stay here again and I am very PICKY about hotels!!

I use PRICELINE all the time for San Antonio - I usually bid on a resort in the West area - Seaworld and have gotten more than once the Hyatt Hill Country Resort for $42.00/night - talk about a bargain - that place is usually $250.00+/night. (I do go in the off season too which may be why I can get such a low rate)

I see people getting nice hotels on the Riverwalk all the time a lot cheaper than booking directly with the hotel.

We got the Westin Riverwalk for $119 I think, Govn rate. I called and asked if that included military, and it did this past July. (I am thinking you are a military spouse? Maybe I am confused)

I know Marriott's often have incredible military rates too.

I just got $112 when I tried this one.

The Hilton family of hotels offer military rates too.

Wow, I used priceline for our July trip and tried the resorts in the West area up to 80.00 and never got anything. I did, however, get the Marriot for $75.00 a night and I was very pleased with that.

Unfortunately the Priceline deals in the West area seem to have totally dried up once the Hyatt completed their room renovations a while back. It's probably been about 1 1/2 years since I've seen any deals on the West resorts. Even the Radisson there has gone way up in price! We used to go about 3 times a year and stay at either the Hyatt or Radisson courtesy of Priceline, but not recently!

Check www.biddingfortravel.com to see what kind of rates people are getting via Priceline.

Oh, and I can say to stay far, far away from the La Quinta that's sort of close to Sea World. Horrible - absolutely horrible!

Just went there this summer. We stayed at a Comfort Inn that used to be an old jail. Very nice and included good breakfast. Not far from Riverwalk and Mall. We booked on Expedia and got a great deal. Can't remember for sure how much.

Enjoy! I always try for military rates at nice hotels or resorts. :) DH is a reservist and they usually work. Sometimes I call and ask if I can't find it online or it is unclear. I want the BEST hotel for the least amount of money! ;)
