Opinions please on San Angel Inn. 6 adults 2 children. Only other option is Whispering Canyon.

We really like San Angel! It is a bit dark inside and the tables are a bit close together, but the food is very good. I am a picky eater and several foods don't agree with me, but I can always find something to eat! As for Whispering, we haven't eaten there yet but it does look like a very nice place and the menu looks great!! I'd go with whatever type food you prefer! :firefight

Love the atmosphere - the food is spicy for me and I love spice. I usually stick to the appetizers, love the soup!

If good food is what you are after go to Maya Grill in the Coronado Springs resort - its excellent!

We love San Angel! DH and I are vegetarians and we usually travel with my brother and his family, they eat meat. We have no problems finding something for everyone at San Angel.

The food is so good there and I LOVE the atmosphere.

We ate at Whispering Canyon last time, and I wasn't that impressed.

I plan on eating at San Angel Inn again and again and again.

As another Monmouth County NJ resident;).....I agree with previous poster.

The atmosphere is great, even with kids (I've got four:)) The menu seems to change fairly frequently, and it's a good thing. The food is great, and I have to say.....after wandering in the Florida sun with four kids all day......the MARGARITAS:goodvibes are to die for.

The Whisper Canyon is a blast......but don't go there if you like quiet, or don't like to talk to other people, or are shy..........and don't ask for the ketchup when your there:lmao:.Consider yourself forwarned

We had a great first experience there last month. I went purely for the margaritas (the Avocado one is AMAZING and worth the trip alone) and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. It definitely had an authenticity to it that most Mexican restaurants don't have, and you can't beat the view.

We really like it. We enjoy the food & drinks (as PP said, the avocado margarita is a treat). To us it's what Disney dining should be--an immersive experience that's unlike anything we could get elsewhere. It's set up as an outdoor restaurant at night, next to an open air market. It's dimly lit, sort of like you're in the shadows of the pyramid in the background and the volcano occasionally erupting behind it, and the boats are traveling past as you eat. Is it like an actual outdoor restaurant in Mexico? No, not really, but it's a really cool experience at Disney.

My kids really enjoyed the dining experience and the food--my daughter (age 11) recently told me it's her favorite restaurant at Disney. I have heard some people complain on the disboards about how dark it is in there--so warn the adults & kids in your party that it's dimly lit. We did use our cell phones to see the menus better, and I also used my flashlight app to light up my food when I took a picture of it.
