Can anyone give me some information on San Angel Inn? I have never been and am thinking about trying it for lunch. How is the food? I have seen the restaurant and it is beautiful! All opinions welcome!

You will get differing opinions on this one, but my family and I love it. We have been the last three trips and have it reserved for lunch in June. We love the atmosphere. It helps that everyone can find something to eat there. DD and DS are incredibly picky eaters and love it.

I enjoy going there from time to time because I think the atmosphere is charming and relaxed. If we luck out and get a table near the boats going through, that's extra charming. I think the food is pretty overpriced, but I expect that at Disney anyway. I usually order the enchiladas, and they've always been delicious.

We went for lunch because the menu looked more appealing to us than dinner. It was a beautiful restaurant-really fun and romantic to feel like you were dining at night when it was really afternoon:goodvibes The margaritas we're fantastic. Chips and guacamole were delicious, but the salsa was nasty. I think I got chicken enchiladas and I enjoyed them. We got a free dulce leche ice cream dessert, as we were there on our honeymoon. Service was excellent and we would definitely come here again!

San Angel Inn will always be a special place for us. We went there when DD was 3 or 4. We didn't really see anything on the menu that we thought she would like, so we asked the waiter if they could make some bean nachos (they weren't on the menu). They didn't know what that was, so we explained that it was basically beans on chips. They made them, but used black beans rather than pinto beans. DD loved them, and has loved black beans ever since. While the food may not be spectaular, the memory will always be, and we will keep going back.

I guess I am in the minority, but this is the one restaurant in Disney that we will not return to. The atmosphere is awesome, but the food was not good. My family is not very picky (three of us aren't anyway ;)) and none of us liked our entree.

I wish I liked Mexican food more because it's so gorgeous! I'm thinking of sucking it up and trying something new so we can experience it!

You can take a look at the menu at allearsnet to see if this restaurant appeals to you as everyone as different tastes. I can tell you that this is on our "must do" list. We absolutely love this restaurant and make sure we book it every trip.

If you do book, make sure to get there early to do the boat ride before your meal.

My wife and I love Mexican food so when you combine that with the atmospheren at San Angel Inn, this is our favorite restaurant at Epcot. This is not your typical Americanized Mexican food. It's more authentic to the country of Mexico. I highly recommend the Pollo A Las Rajas.

We ate there on our last trip. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere was awesome. We would definitely eat there again

Don't go. Simply its not a good restaurant. The tables are so close to each other it may be difficult to pull your chair out enough to sit in it. The food is just OK. The service is slow. I do like the overall atmosphere though, but its just not enough to overcome the shortcomings.

You may want to read the dining reviews here when trying to decide. :disrocks:

We ate there for the first time in December as part of the CP package. I had wanted to dine there since I was 4 and absolutely in love with the boat ride in the Mexican pavilion. It was a dream of mine to eat overlooking that river and the pyramid. We had a very mixed experience.

The atmosphere was amazing, though the tables are placed a bit close together. The food was good, but not great.

What really killed it for us was the service. We had the CP lunch package, which they time after the usual lunch rush to fill more tables. I think our ADR was for 2:00. We were seated very quickly and it all went downhill from there. After we were seated, our waiter introduced himself and said he'd be with us in a moment. Didn't even take our drink orders or fill our water glasses. He was gone at least 10 minutes before taking our drink orders (and keep in mind, the restaurant was less than half full at this time, so he wasn't slammed). The CP package included an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We ordered the appetizers and entrees at the same time. After finishing the appetizers and waiting a significant time for our plates to be cleared (no entrees at least 5-10 mins after we were done with appetizers), the waiter came and asked if we were ready for our check. My mother had to politely remind him we had only received one of our 3 courses. He looked dumbfounded and we had to ask another server to ensure our entree order had been put in. We ordered desserts immediately when our entrees arrived, for fear it would take forever. He also forgot our CP vouchers with our bill although we had already mentioned we had the package twice.

It took us about 2 hours for the meal and we were almost late to the CP because of it. The table behind us sat for 45 mins and did not even receive their drinks before leaving. We heard them talking to the manager and asking if they could get a couple fastpasses to compensate for their time (one of the guests seemed to be an off-duty CM and knew this was common practice when meals take a long time). The manager didn't seem to care and told them he had never heard of restaurants giving FPs for bad service.

If the service had been better, I'd probably visit again, but the food just wasn't good enough to compensate for that factor. I won't condemn a restaurant on one poor server. I think it's worth a try, even just for the atmosphere, but there are too many good restaurants in EPCOT for me to return anytime soon.

We have eaten at the San Angel several times and have always loved it. Food excellent, service can be a little slow but we are never in a hurry.

Love to get a table near the water and sometimes we have been lucky to have the band playing inside.

Booking it again for our trip in october.:thumbsup2

Wow-I didn't know there was a band that plays inside! Do they play everyday? It's funny, when my DH and I were there for lunch, we were saying the only thing that would make this place perfect would be a mariachi band!

We have eaten San Angel many times and have always had a good meal.We tried Hacendia last year and did not like it.The service was rushed.ANd the food seemed to be prepareded.

San Angel once even made french fries for our picky DS.

San Angel is a must do for us every trip. Great atmosphere and excellent food. I do agree that tables are rather close together. Its not for everyone though. Its not your typical Americanized Mexican place. You wont find burritos, enchiladas or chimichangas etc. The various salsas are very good, ask for the hot stuff if you like spicy!!

We definitely enjoyed the food (and margaritas!!) and the atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome too. It was a late dinner for us and our sons were VERY cranky and VERY fussy and she was so patient with us and with our boys. Other than the crankiness, it was a great experience for us.

We used to love San Angel! We would go every year but from our trips in 2010 to 2011 it had gone down hill. They changed a lot!

This is on our list of must do's every trip. In fact, it's something that my DS requests every time we go. He's a very fussy eater and loves the food and the atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our meal here in 2010, but we went for dinner, not lunch. The really amazing items on our table were sirloin rellenos and pollo a las rajas. And the MARGARITAS from La Cava, which are served at both San Angel and La Hacienda are the best I have ever had in my life...and I've had a few margaritas in my life ;).
