For anyone who has eaten here a time or two..I have a very picky DH. We have never been to this restaurant before. We went on the river boat ride and walked around the market inside Mexico pavilion but never ate at San Angel. We want to eat here because we both think it's such a beautiful place. My DH doesn't like cheese at all. Anyone know if the Plato Mexicano: Beef Tenderloin Tampiquena, chicken enchilada, and beef flauta, served with sour cream, black refried beans and Mexican rice $20.99 has a lot of cheese? I'm sure he could order without cheese but just wondering how much cheese is in this dish. If anyone has pics of any of the food that would be great! He doesn't like beans very much, sour cream, or cheese. Any suggestions?

I think this is what I ordered last time I was there... and I remember it being quite good. And since I like cheese, I wasn't paying attention to the cheese, and I don't have a picture.

But, it was good. I think you can mention the cheese issue and they won't put cheese on it. Not sure if it is in the enchilada though. I think your DH will be able to find something there, the atmosphere is worth the ADR. It is just wonderful. Enjoy!:goodvibes

Last time we went to San Angel, we had a pretty picky person with us, and they ordered a dish that was essentially chicken and beef fajita-type meat with tortillas, and everything else on the side (cheese, salsa, sour cream, etc.). It was actually very good, a little plain, but good and a build-it-yourself ! They enjoyed it a lot. Not sure if every server would do this, so it may warrant a phone call ahead of time . . . .

We just ate there for the first time in October. I don't think we'd go back-the food isn't the typical Mexican food you'd expect and we didn't care for our meals. You really can't beat the atmosphere-it was very magical.

I have to say, that we ate there on our last trip. We were on the DP, but ended up paying out of pocket. It was a super hot day and didn't feel like eating outside with one of our CS credits. It was the WORST meal I have ever had at Disney. The inside was so pretty and we thought it would be fun to eat there. Boy were we ever wrong. The wait staff were rude and never once even came back to see how things were or to refill our drinks. They acted as though we were bothering them. It was a huge let down. The food was HORRIBLE......down right bad. We will never go back!!! maybe you will have better luck then we have.

Not to rain on your parade, but I have to agree with the previous poster, this was our worst Dsiney dining experience we ever had. The food was not good and the service was absolutely horrible. It as a hot day and we were enjoying being cool in the restaurant and drank our drinks pretty quickly so we asked for refills, ten minutes later the entrees came out and we asked again for drinks. Another ten minutes pass and still no drinks. We are asking anyone that walks by for drinks. I had gotten to the point I could no longer eat beacause I needed something to drink. Finally our waiter comes out and leaves our drinks sitting at the edge of the table and I get up and handout the drinks. My bill was $59.61, I left $60 and told the waiter he could keep the change. I always tip and tip well, but not this time.

Sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else. I know this has nothing to do with your question, but the food was so so so bad! The atmosphere was pretty and I am glad that I went, otherwise I would have always wanted to go, but I think I would have saved my money and just gotten an appetizer or something so that I could have had the experiance. The food is EXTREMELY authentic, not at all what you would expect, and good luck with special orders. All of the waiters come directly from mexico and seem to have a lot of trouble understanding english.

DH and I had dinner here our last visit and I made ADR's for lunch on our next trip in April. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. DH isn't in to lots of cheese and hates sour cream (I love them both!) He had the Camarones con Fideos - Shrimp marinated and grilled, served over angel hair pasta with tomato sauce and chipotle pepper and he really liked it. Everyone has their own opinions so its worth giving it a try. You know what you like and don't like. For someone that is a hamburger only type of person no I would not recommend San Angel Inn.

Bring a flashlight !! We were here in Aug, and it is very dark. And loud. We too, had never eaten here. My DW,DS,and DD and myself ate supper here. The food was fair at best, the servers a little better. It looks great. But we won't be back for next trip. Good luck. :thumbsup2

We have eaten there many times and it is one of our favorites. It is not Taco Bell...there is a real Mexican chef...and the margueritas are the best

I totally agree! The only thing worse than the food is the service--it was non-existent. Don't bother trying for a special order, it will be ignored or wrong.
