San Angel Inn, Tips on getting better table

I have dined at San Angel Inn every trip I have taken to Disney World. It's not really the food, but the atmosphere....and margaritas ;) that I love. However, I always have the worst possible luck in table selection. One trip dh and I were put in this little reject room over close to the bathrooms. The other 2 times we had a table right close to the hostess podium and people kept brushing me as they were being seated. Has anyone asked for a table close to the water and been accommodated? I get the feeling Disney restaurants do not allow special requests. We asked to wait longer for a table on the outside patio at Rose and Crown last trip and were told we had to take the assigned table inside, which we did, but it was a little disappointing since it was a beautiful evening outdoors. I assume San Angel Inn would also have a take it or leave it approach. I really want a better this time at San Angel. Any suggestions? Does it help if you go during a non-peak time? For example, 11am for lunch? Or at 3:30pm for lunch or early dinner?

I don't have any real tips for you, but had to laugh; Our favorite table is in the "reject room" as you call it.;) the tables seem much less crowded there, we have always had great service, and a minimum of jostling, which we always seem to get when we are seated in the "great view" area.

Have you just asked? If you were willing to wait additional time, would guess it is worth a try!

You certainly can ask for a table near the water. You may be asked to wait until one becomes available, but they will do their best.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to have called one of the above posters favorite spots in the restaurant the "reject room"! :guilty: I guess I'm not as particular on the food or even service, but I love the whole ambiance of a nice restaurant. I know this is not the norm! I would absolutely love to be able to see the pyramid or boats on the water for a change. I will give it a try next visit and ask as nicely as possible if we can sit near the water and offer to wait. Thanks for the replies.

Don't feel bad. No offense to kaybird, but we've been seated next to the restrooms & I think "reject room" is a pretty good description of the location. ;)

We dined there about 2:00 in the afternoon and ended up right next to the water. The place was busy, but not completely packed - that might be a good time to book, and then when you get to the podium, request a table near the water. Good luck.

P.S. - I Loooooovveeed San Angel. The food, the atmosphere, all of it.

We have always asked to be seated by the water and I think the key is telling them you don't mind waiting, (If you really don't) that way they don't feel like they have to seat you right away and can wait until a seat does become available.

This has worked many times for us, just ask and wait:goodvibes

Thanks for all the pointers. I will make an ADR for 2:00 or maybe 3:00, and let me them know we would like to wait for a table close to the water. Hopefully between the less busy eating time and request, we'll get lucky this time.
