We would like to try out the restaurant in Mexico and I was wondering for those who have eaten there before should will do lunch there or dinner? We are doing the Dining Plan so money is not a factor.

We try to go to San Angel every trip, and most of the time we go there for lunch. The food isn't the greatest (it's just ok), so we don't like "wasting" a delicious dinner opportunity. San Angel has the BEST ambiance ever, and we love the experience. So we usually plan to have lunch there and go to dinner at a restaurant where we totally enjoy the food. Keep in mind, though, that many of the entrees are combo platters and quite large! My (grown) kids all get the quesadillas even though they're not on the menu.

We ate there for lunch in early December and were very pleased with the food. We were in the Deluxe Dining Plan, so price was not a factor for us either. Our apps and entrees were both good. We like to order a variety of things and share; neither of us was disappointed. For being a 1 table service meal, it is very good.

I have been there for both lunch and dinner, and it seems that every time I have been there, the menu has changed slightly. It's not my first choice for a dinner, but the food is pretty good. The ambiance, like others say, is spectacular. Even if we don't eat there, we always go in to go on the river ride. :)

I find it to be one of the most romantic restaurants at WDW and have had hit it on my last 2 trips for dinner. The last time we actually got to sit in a corner by the railing over near the "river", so we weren't surrounded by other couples..

I think the food is great actually. The mole is to die for. Anyway, being that the restaurant is so dark and romantic, I tend to think of it as more of a dinner restaurant then a lunch one....IMHO...

mmmmmm....can't wait for the next trip, we'll be going there again for sure!!

I would say get on AllEars.net and look at the menus and see which one looks better to you. I'm with Lorilei on the Mole Poblano. They only have that on the dinner menu; therefore, I only want to go for dinner! As long as that is on the dinner menu, San Angel will be a must for me on any trip.

We've eaten dinner here the past 4 trips we've taken and will eat here again in May. We enjoy the food and love the atmosphere. Have fun!

BTW, the margaritas are yummy!

We really enjoy San Angel Inn. We usually like to go for dinner. I have always had a good meal there and we love the atmosphere. I especially love the Filete Montuleno for dinner, it is sooo good!

I have been going back on forth with this one while planning my adrs. Most of us are big Mexican food fans and living in Oklahoma we have some great authentic places which I highly prefer over Tex-Mex.

My biggest concern is we are going the last week of May and I don't know how the weather will be for eating outside.

San Angel Inn does not have any outside seating. You are thinking of Cantina de San Angel, which is Mexico's CS restaurant.

the hubby and i enjoyed our dinner at san angle in 08
i thought it was very good, my husband raved about it for days, we both let the waiter suggest meals and went with two sperate steak dishes... we look forward to going back in 09

If I go to the San Angel expecting a step up from Don Pablos I should not be disappointed correct?

we liked it also and I love the restaurant itself so much. Dh is insisting we go back this time also.

I guess I'm going to be the 1st one that will state that I absolutely loathe the restaurant and will likely never return. Our service was horrible and we were so cramped in the area where we were seated that I could barely get in and out of my chair. As for the horrible service our waiter barely came around to refill drinks or ask us how things are were. Our food was also lukewarm at best and IMO pretty bland. Granted we like food that uses a lot of spice for flavor but this was lacking a lot. I was also very disappointed in the salsa - very little flavor. I'd take On the Border over San Angel Inn any day.

I would go there for lunch over dinner. I think the ambiance is great--we waited so we could get a table right on the "river." However, the food is only so-so. I liked my ceviche, but everything else was mediocre. What was just plain bad was their chips and salsa. They served Tostitos :scared1: and their salsa tasted canned to me. Like many Disney restaurants, the theming is wonderful, but the food isn't.

The few times I've been to Epcot I've wanted to eat here...and I think when we go in June we'll have to try it....besides, my wife loves Mexican food...me..well not so much but will give it a try :)

We feel that the food is good, not great! Just like others have posted, you can't beat the ambiance.

Now this is the type of thinking Disney loves to hear, since meal tickets make you forget you paid money for this plan in advance based upon the premise you will save up to 30%....but this level of savings is something you have to manage to achieve.
