Going to save some $$ by switching from Verizon to AT&T!

Trying to decide which phone to get. What do you think??

I have the iphone 4 and LOVE IT! I have been with AT&T for over 15 years and would never switch. I travel weekly all over the US and have never had a problem with service. I don't know anything about the other one, so I can't help you there. Just my two cents.

once you get the iPhone 4, the iPhone 5 will come out and you'll be disappointed and waste money upgrading. Android phones are vastly superior to iPhones right now, and will continue to be in the future.

The Iphone 4 is great, but there are rumors of the 5 being out in the Fall.
Assuming that is true, you might be disappointed that you got the 4 just before the 5 came out. If not, you may want to wait because the 4 will likely be a lot less expensive when the 5 comes out.
When we bought dd the 4 they were just getting rid of the 3's and practically giving them away at that point.

If you decide on an iPhone (which I have and love), I agree that you should wait for the iPhone 5 to be released. You might as well get the latest model.

I would get the iPhone 3G now ($49) and upgrade to the iPhone 5 when it comes out. This way you could make the switch now and get familiar with the iOS.

Make sure AT&T coverage works in your area. And where you plan to travel. I have a colleague who works for another airline. We run into eachother in various cities across the US. Wannabe-techno-geeks that we are, we often compare our iPhone 4s. He is with AT&T and I am with Verizon. He has coverage issues far more than I do.

Or better yet, the 3GS for $.01!! My husband just did his 2 year upgrade last week and got this. It's listed as 'cosmetic blemished'. Do you know the only blemish we have found is a 1/4" very light scratch on the back. It's almost more of a scuff because you can't even feel it when you run your finger over it. My daughter will also be getting a blemished one in July when it's time for her upgrade.
As far as coverage, the only place i've not been able to get coverage was in the Ozarks at our lake lot. It's out in the middle of no where though lol But if we go up the hill a bit, we can make/receive calls.

I'm not sure how AT&T works, but with Verizon you're limited with regard to frequency how often you are eligible for an upgrade discount. I wouldn't bother wasting an 'upgrade' credit to save $48.99 on the iPhone 3GS when the more valuable upgrade discount would apply to the newest iPhone (approximately $199 down from $649) when it comes out.

Every 2 years you get an upgrade without penalty. For us, the .01 is great, considering the adult that got it has broken 3 iphones in 2 years and the daughter that's getting one is 12. No way no how are either of them getting a $200 phone. I however, refuse to get a refurb for myself. I waited for my upgrade time and bought the iPhone 4. I take care of my stuff so I deserved it ;) I don't feel i'm 'wasting' anything, it's a pretty awesome deal IMO. I was sharing as this is the Budget board after all. I don't even think AT&T sells the 3G version you mentioned in your post anymore, refurbed or new.

I got the IPhone 4 a few months ago and my husband got the Infuse a few weeks ago.

IMO - you can't go wrong with either choice. The Infuse will be cheaper (My husband got it shortly after it came out and it was only $149.99 - I got an IPhone 4 two month ago and paid $199). I thought about waiting for the IPhone 5 but I didnt have a smart phone and I know get to use the Iphone 4everyday for the next 4 months till the new one comes out. Sure the Iphone 5 might be a lot better then the 4 but the 4 is still tons better then what I had, haha.

I do want to say that the Infuse battery life SUCKS!!! So as long as you buy an extra charge for at work or in the car it will be fine. My husband used his on vacation (including GPS and stuff) and it would constantly die. Thats why I choose the IPhone. I wanted a battery that would last me 5 hour flights without being charged.

My vote is for the iPhone 4. If you're always waiting for the next best thing, you will be waiting forever. And supposedly the 5 won't be much different anyway.

Android phones are not "superior," but they are saturating the market right now.

I had a Droid for 1 1/2 years and got the Verizon iPhone a couple of months ago. It's much more user-friendly, but there is one thing I don't like about it: It isn't very compatible with the Google programs I use, mainly Picasa, Reader and Docs.

Well, I am a Verizon customer not AT&T but I have owned both an android phone and an iPhone. Personally I prefer the iPhone. The only thing the Android did better than the iPhone is pictures. The iPhone camera is pretty good but the android's camera was fantastic.

Well coming from a home that has both. I own the Iphone and absolutely love it other than the fact that mine got "buggy" near the end of my two year contract. I bought the Apple care so after jumping through their hoops of making sure I had the latest Itunes installed and the latest software updated to my phone, etc. I was finally able to get it replaced. One other issue I was having which didn't make any sense was that I started to have difficulty with my chargers as well. The original cord it came with it started to say "Charging is not supported with this accessory", which of course doesn't make sense because it is the cord that came with it. Other than these issues, I still absolutely love my phone. If it it matters mine is the 3GS version and at the time I bought mine there was a great sale on it which of course was before the 4G one came out. I'm not in a hurry to buy a new one yet as I am still happy with mine.

Now on the flip side, my husband absolutely hates my phone and anytime I have trouble he says "that's because you bought an Iphone". He loves the Droids and is a tech guru. In his opinion, the Iphones are made so that people don't have to think. He hates the fact that he can't do anything with my phone He likes having the ability of being able to create his own apps so to speak which he can do on Droid. His phone does seem to process things much quicker than my phone and there are some neat things about his phone that I do like, but it is so much larger than the Iphone and I don't like big bulky phones.

We both have multiple chargers as we use our phones a lot so neither one of our battery lives last enough for either one of us. My best suggestion to you is to go into an ATT store and play with both of the phones to see what you think may work best for you. If you have any questions their employees are usually wonderful at showing you how the phones work.
