Sam's Club

I am on my 4th day of pulled pork sandwiches for lunch from the 2 Sam's pork shoulders I bought for a party last Saturday. I am pretty much porked out. Gave a ton away, ate for lunch and dinner Sunday, lunch for work for 3 days and there's still a good bit left.

FYI - Pulled pork freezes wonderfully! I will usually get a pork roast or shoulder and make my own and split into gladware, then freeze. Voila! Instant quickie dinner!

As for me, I love my Sam's membership. Frozen chicken is $2.16 a pound (best price around here, except when Publix has a sale). Ground beef under $3 a pound, Pork Loin boneless chops for under $3 a pound, can you tell I mostly go for meat? I can get 4 pounds of butter for under $10. 250 Hefty styro plates for $12 (yeah, they kill the earth, whatever, they are great!) I routinely get egg noodles there - I think it's a 5lb or 10lb bag for $4. Parmesan cheese is a good deal, too. I like Reeses Pieces, and can get a HUGE bag for about $8 (I'm talking multi-poundage!)

What else? Books are usually around $6 each for a paperback novel. DVDs and Video games have gret prices, but I haven't needed to get any lately. I don't get much HBA or bathroom stuff, so I can't comment on that. I totally think that it is worth the cost of admission to be able to get cheap meat.

I am super lucky my Sam's is 2 mins away. The milk is the biggest thing for us. We buy it all the time. Plus their rolls and fruit have good prices.

Eggs, meats, lunchmeat, cheese, capri suns, a lot of the frozen quick food type stuff, like chicken nuggets and taquitos. The fruits and vegetables are cheaper and better quality than the grocery stores in Las Vegas, but that wasn't true when we lived in CA, so it depends where you live. We always pick up our veggie trays, fruit trays, cupcake trays, etc there for school or home parties. And when my son was younger, diapers, wipes and baby/toddler clothes always seemed to be a good price.

The only thing I would caution you on is their bagels. I don't know what it is about those bagels, but seriously, every time we buy them, they mold so fast, like within 3 days. We've tried to buy them there several times, thinking we just get unlucky, but everytime we buy them, the same thing happens...

For us it's fresh meat (when we can't get to the Commissary, which is further away). Prices and quality are both good. We buy Jif PB, large bags of rice, bottled water, Prilosec...and other miscellaneous stuff. Sometimes we indulge in frozen foods. We also buy dishwasher tabs, detergent, and paper goods, UNLESS I can find good sale prices elsewhere. PPs were right, as long as you know the regular/sale prices on the items you routinely buy, you'll be able to determine whether or not Sam's prices are a good deal or not.

Their toys after Christmas go on major sale. Last year I bought my son some Melissa and Doug stuff and paid $28 before Christmas. After Christmas they were marked down a few times and ended up at $10. I bought six sets to stock up on upcoming birthdays. Huge savings and a decent present!

I worked at Sams Club in the worse 6 months of my life... shop there NEVER work there...:scared: and now my job is across the street from it!! Love going thru there NOT as an employee!

I always go to the "returned" dept, where they put things that are returned without a box or something else. The prices are deeply discounted but the items change constantly. They usually have big ticket items like TVs and mattresses.

I also like the "sample" ladies on the weekends!! Yum Yum!!

I love their fruit, frozen foods and pizza. Their take n bake pizza is HUGE and cheap and great for feeding teenaged boys.

The Click n Pull IS great as the PP mentioned. They have people who do your shopping for you and all you have to do is take the receipt to the register. It's a lifesaver especially if you shop like I do~~

This weekend is appetizer shopping time for Christmas eve. Sam's has the BEST appetizers!

Note, they have a VERY generous return policy, TOO generous imho but as we were told in "training" they make NO money on their merchandise, ONLY on the memberships. This was their excuse for NOT giving us an employee discount... :rolleyes1

The gas is always the cheapest in the area. Since they're so close I only buy gas there.

Enjoy!
