We just got an upright freezer, so I'm thinking of getting a shoping club membership since I now have more space to stock up. Is Costco better, the same or worse than Sam's Club? I'm mainly interested in food, if that makes a differance.

Costco! I've had memberships at Costco, Sams and BJ's (briefly had all three at the same time!) and I find that Costco's meats are the best.

The only thing I want from Sam's is fruit2o's, because the costco here doesn't have it (but they did up north)

No experience with Sams, but I really like Cosco. I also agree with Cosco having good meat. They also stock great produce.

I have/had memeberships in the now gone PACE, Sams, Costco and BJ's. wouldn't go near Sam's again if the memebership was free. When they bought out PACE they were the only place around and my PACE membership was good there. Had terrible customer service problems with them when I bought tires there. Aparently they were defective. 3 or the 4 blew while still under warenty. They stopped carrying them and would not order one when it went out unless I came in. So I would have to bring the car if for them too see the tire. This would take about 2 hrs. then they would order the tire which would take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. then it would take another 2 hrs to get the tire put on the car. One time they actually called and told me the tire was in, I went in and waited over an hour, only to be told that someone mistakenly called the people on the list of things that did not come in.

Anyway wouldn't go near a "buying club" for yrs. Costco came to town and I had no desire to join. BJ's offered free membership when they opened. When it came time to renew I know so many who like Costoc better so I joined them instead. Ended up after about 6 months going back and rejoining BJ's. I do like costco for meats, cheese, milk and Atkins prducts but buy almost everything else at BJ's. BJ's has a better selection of clothing, books, toys and paper goods. Oh except I like Costco's brand of Tissues.

Wow. That is hard. I shop them both because they seem to have different things at each one that I want.

I love Costco's meats. But I like Sam's Bakery better.

That reminds me, I like Costco's bakery better than BJ's. BJ's carried a better variety of frozen vegetables and frozen dinners.

Thanks! No BJ's around here (that I know of, I'm in NE IL) so it's just Sam's or Costco.

I hate Wal-Mart, so I'll go with Costco. Thanks for the feedback! :wave2:

I checked the BJ's site. Looks like there arent' any around you. Too bed, but since you are looking mainly at stocking your freezer, the Costco is a good choice. Their meats are very good.

I shop both Sam's and Costco , but for different things. I think Costco has better meat.

We do Sam's club because Costco is to far away..

Costco has much better meat quality as it is all "Choice." Where Sams is "Select".

There is a difference.
