Has anyone had a split stay within the same resort, just changing villa sizes? I have 2 nights in a studio, followed by 2 nights in a 1 Bedroom. Although I'm expecting to pack and move, it would be so nice if the resort sprinkled me with pixie dust and gave me the 1 BR for all 4 nights, so that I didn't have to move. Yeah, I know-dream on! But, has this ever happened to anyone in the real world of DVC?

I like your thinking lol. You will have to change. You might get lucky with a room at checkout time but prob not.
Happy planning

We are doing a split stay next month on purpose to try out different room sizes in our home resort - we're calling it the Tour d' Riviera - so we're actually hoping we don't get pixie dusted. Doing 2 nights Tower Studio, 2 nights Deluxe Studio, 5 nights 2-bedroom lock off. Will be fun :-). Will try to do minimal unpacking the first two stays. That said - hey it's like getting a full room clean twice :).

We did it several years ago. We had a one bedroom for the first few nights and opened up the studio to get a two bedroom when our friends joined us. We had a note added to our reservation. You might try adding "Continuing Stay" the other reservation number to both of the reservations. Then when you check in see if you are blocked into the same villa for the entire trip. It saves them from needing to clean your villa twice.

You never know. But, typically DVC rooms are booked fully, so no real wiggle room for pixie dust. It’s easier on the resort side when they are more likely to have rooms not booked. Like, one time we did club level at Boardwalk for 5 nights and decided to fly in late the night before and booked a standard room at boardwalk for that night. Was pleasantly surprised to arrive and be booked into the club level room that night and no have to move. Of course, we arrived so late there were no club benefits really between checking in and waking up the next day, so Disney saved having to deep clean a room, we saved a move. It was a win win.

I like how you think😉

Yeah we have a 2BR booked the night before our grand villa stay at BWV, and we're fully expecting to move. But it would be nice! 😄 Keep checkin' that RAT.

Yes, actually several times. Always had to move, but always knew that I would and expected it, so it was fine. Still nice. Just walked the luggage down to bell services or called for pick up in the AM, and left for the day. Called for it when I got back and checked into room. Just like moving to a different resort, but somehow it seemed much easier. Much more relaxed.

I think OP has a studio then a 1 br., which would require an upgrade for the initial studio portion to a 1 br. to avoid a move, v. a 1 br. followed by a lock off 2 br. which just adds the connecting studio to the 1 br.. Like you I had a 1 br. to 2 br. lock off split stay & asked to not move, nevertheless we did have to vacate our 1 br. on check out day & then check back in - even though we ended up back in the same 1 br. + the next door studio added.

That’s ridiculous.
They should have been happy to save the full clean.

I had this and offered to take the studio the whole time (VGC for daughters dance performance). The CM did look into it, but nope, I had to move. I wasn't upset, but figured it didn’t hurt to ask!

I've done same-resort splits 4 times - 3 of the times required moving myself, as was expected. Only once did I have a fluke of luck, staying in a studio solo for the first two days as family was flying down later in the week, then moving to a 2-bedroom at OKW. Somehow they managed to give us the 1-bedroom next to the studio I was already in for the lock-off 2 bedroom. I hadn't even requested it specially, but when checking in the 2-bedroom I mentioned I was already in a studio, and we just lucked out. I certainly would never count on it happening though.

This happened to me once as well at OKW.
I figured it makes much more sense for them if possible becaise then they avoid a full clean on original room
