Mickey Pretzels ... LOVE THEM!

I am looking through menus and see that a Mickey pretzel with cheese at Bengal BBQ is $3.49, whereas at the Refreshment Corner, the Mickey pretzel is $3.49 and you can add a cup of cheese for $.89. Really? Is it really different?

If so, are there other snacks or meals that are exactly the same thing - but different prices in different places?

Also, do you know of a place that sells frozen Coca Cola slushies??

TIA!:goodvibes

I would say the pretzels are the same everywhere (perhaps someone can correct me on this). I've had the Pretzels at one of the carts and can tell you that the cup of cheese sauce is of the Nacho variety and is a bit spicy if you like that sort of thing. Spicy but not over powering.

They used to have really good cheese with the pretzels; now it's the stuff that you can buy for 10 cents at Wal Mart. It doesn't taste good at all! I highly suggest you go without the cheese. But that's off-topic.

I'm 99% sure that the pretzel prices are the same everywhere though. I can update when I go next time if nobody else does and check some of the pretzel prices for you.. I'll be there again in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the offer, but we'll be there next week so I'll check in out myself. :goodvibes I just found it interesting as I was compiling menus to print and take along. We like to choose a restaurant or two in the morning before we leave the hotel so come lunchtime we aren't playing the "where do you want to go", "I dunno, where do you want to go" game and wasting valuable Disney time. ;)

I solve that game by going to Golden Horseshoe and watching the lunch show of Billy Hill & The Hillbillies!!

As for Pretzels we go to DTD to Wetzles Pretzels!! For pretzel dogs with hot chedder cheese dip!!

I found this to be a very interesting question. Really one that I had never entertained. So, I decided to check on what wingednike observed.
The Monte Cristo is only served for lunch at the Blue Bayou. It comes with rolls and butter, and either soup or salad. From my expierence the drinks are bottomless. And of course you have table service. The price here is $24.99.
The Cafe Orleans serves the Monte Cristo for $15.99, without soup or salad, or rolls and butter ( please correct me here, I do not remember rolls and butter served at our table.). And of course table service.
So, here we do have a difference. I would have never imagined the cost difference. But, here you have the atmosphere differences, and the bottomless drinks. Very interesting observation...huummm.. :tink:

I think some of those menus posted online have been updated at different times, so the prices might not be 100% accurate.

The other difference in the Monte Cristo is one is with meat, the other just cheese. So while they both have the name Monte Cristo they are not the same sandwhich. So not perfect for comparison reasons.

According to AllEars (updated Oct 2010) both the regular Monte Cristo and the Three-Cheese Monte Cristo were both $17.49 at Cafe Orleans. The Monte Cristo at BB is $24.99, but as mentioned, that comes with sides and gumbo or a salad. The sandwich at CO just comes with grapes. They only sell the three-cheese at CO, but they sell the meat one at both.

ETA: I can't believe a sandwich comes in at $24.99 - or $17.49 for that matter! I guess I never put too much thought into it but wow!

Haha. Thank you for noting this about the cheese! I myself am a cheese sauce lover, however I prefer the "NOT Nacho" variety as well. ;) :)

This happens all over the resort.

For example:

Kid's Mini Hamburger meal (with fries and a drink)...$6.99 at Taste Pilot's Grill, $5.99 at Pinocchio's Village Haus! It's the SAME meal. I got one for DS last Wednesday (the first day of the "new" menu at PVH). I was miffed, because I've been paying $6.99 for the same meal over at DCA for months now...

It happens in several instances. I don't get the logic.

The logic is that people do not know and that the venue is different = a quick $. There are no rules about keeping things identical.

At Blue Bayou, the Monte Cristo also comes with the Bayou potatoes and vegetable sides - at the Cafe Orleans, it comes with fresh fruit.

Also, at Cafe Orleans there is a 3 cheese version of the Monte Cristo (which seems a bit lighter than the Ham and Turkey version to me).

So it's the same sandwich, but not the same meal.
