What has been your experiences for making walk in (same day) reservations at the Disney restaurants?

Depends 100% on the time of year, how many in the party, time of day, and how flexible one is willing to be.

If you want Le Cellier at 6:30pm during Christmas week... then I wouldn't count on it.

If you want any location on the monorail for a dinner meal (any time) during October... then you should be able to find something.

We walked up to Crystal Palace on our last trip in November 2009 and were able to get seated within about 15 minutes. It was very crowded, but we still got a seat. We've always had ADRs, but didn't have one for that day and were starving due to the lack of good CS restaurants. We left CP happy and FULL...:thumbsup2

I called Dining once while in DHS and got an ADR for 45 minutes later at 50s Prime Time, so it's definitely possible. But this was a low crowd time and not free dining - if you add peak times and free dining into the mix, it will be a lot more difficult.

We were not able to get anything that we wanted on our trip in March 09.

We already had ADRs for other places, but there were a few I wanted to switch after I saw the restaurant. Nope nothing was available our whole week.

We were able to make same day adrs last xmas week from our resort at Le Chefs de France(9pm) and The Wave (8:30pm). We enjoy eating late so I think that was an advantage.

If you're not looking for a specific restaurant or a specific location, then there will always be SOME same-day reservations available.

We went during free dining last September and Kona at the Poly had breakfast and dinner availability, and at Epcot we were able to get Biergarten just by walking up at 1pm for lunch. Both restaurants were very good!

Lunch at any resort would probably be your best bet as most folks are in the parks at that time.

I was very surprised at the last minute availability when we were at disney last week. I had to change our dinner reservation on the holiday weekend, I think it was Sunday 10/10 because the kids wanted to stay in the pool longer. I checked online to see what would be available around 6:30-7pm, and LeCellier came up for 6:30pm.

During the rest of our 9 days, I was able to make a few last minute changes with good availability (even O'hana came up once).

We've walked right into CRT once before after I spent months trying to get an ADR, so I now believe anything is possible! We've also added Chef Mickey's for a same day ressie through the Concierge as well as a few others that I can't remember now. So, I say it can't hurt to try...just go to the restaurant and ask if there are any standby openings. Good luck...I hope you can get what you want when you are there! :goodvibes

no free dining Oct 8 thru I think the end of this weekend..was there from 10/07 thru 10/16..we got FD only because we checked in 10/07 which was the last day of FD until I think next week.

We haven't had much luck. One time at DHS there were no ADRs available so we had to go to MK to Tony's Town Square. Other times we went to a resort to eat.
