Did I read somewhere that the coffee makers were being upgraded to the new style Kuerig one cup coffee makers -

or did I dream that?

.

All DVC rooms have a full size (10-12) cup Mr Coffee Brand brewer. The three on-site hotels at Universal Orlando have Keurigs.

Hardly an upgrade! Uggggh. That would be fairly dreadful.

That's my opinion also, but more and more standard hotels are moving towards this -

thanks for helping my poor brain!

Yep. It's true. Our room gets upgraded to a mini-Keurig every time we walk in the door. :rotfl2:

I really hate those individual Keurig coffee makers. The few hotels where I've stayed that had them, rarely did they work properly. When they did work the coffee was just "coffee," nothing special. And even if DVC got them for 1/2 price about $50 a piece, at OKW with 761 possible rooms, the "upgrade" would be nearly $40,000 out of our dues. Probably closer to $50,000 by the time they got extras to replace those that don't work.

I totally agree! If they had one in the room when I arrived, I'd be calling and asking for a "real" coffee maker.

I'd think with Disney trying to be "geen" they wouldn't do that anyway. Never mind that I would hate to have my dues going to pay for them!

You're kidding right? I'm not saying they should go to the Kuerig, but you can hardly call the coffee from those cheap Mr. Coffee machines "real". Now replace them with a Grind 'n Brew and then you're talking "real" coffee.

Apparently, I'm on the naughty list, santa didn't bring me a mini for travel, off to amazon i go lol.

There are so many different pods for keurig. Just one taste of Jamacian Me Crazy and you'll never go back:cloud9:sipping one now. It'd be a real money-maker for DVC in the gift shop selling the pods.

Those with sensitive stomachs may want to stop here;)

Hearing various reports over the years re practice of using a drip coffee pot as a method to clean lingere now precludes me from using any in-room coffee pot except for keurig. Likely an urban legend of sorts, but it's the sort of thing that tends to stick with you.:crazy2:

I can't see Disney changing over to Keurigs. I've stayed at higher-end hotels which have them, but the hotel also provides a supply of K-cups for guest use. That would be a pretty expensive changeover for Disney.

Personally a Keurig is perfect for me. I have one cup of coffee in the morning, maybe 3-4 days per week. But for Disney, such a switch would be a disaster for all of the reasons others mentioned.

I've had a Keurig for about 8 years now and love it. As an Keurig owner, I don't expect nor think that Disney should change out all in room coffee to Keurig brewers.

It would be nice to see them available as an on-request item.

i doubt it will ever happen but i have to say i love our keurig! we are big coffee drinkers and i love being able to make a cup whenever i want.

in disney we usually brew a big pot and drink 2 cups each before leaving for the parks. i love owning at DVC and being able to relax with a cup of coffee while getting ready rather than having to go to the food court and drink the gross coffee! whatever we don't drink we'll usually put in the fridge and heat up when we get home from the parks.

keurig or mr. coffee, i'm just glad to be at disney :)

Well said! I'm a coffee lover and would love Keurig while at WDW. However, the points made here make me re-think the "coffee maker" issue.

NO WAY, is it worth the money to transfer over to Keurig for all rooms. Keurig lovers bring your mini's, non-coffee drinkers stay that way, and us coffee lovers get to bring whatever coffee we want.

I agree with "Dumbo_Buddy" --- "I'm just glad to be at disney"

We were in a 2BR suite(not villa) at the Beach Club last August and it had a Keurig.

That is the distinction. Disney can pay for all the upgrades to their suites, they simply charge more per night. With DVC it is the membership that would be paying for that switch out. I would not look for Keurig in DVC anytime soon, unless the price on the Keurig drops down to be comparable to a Mr. Coffee.

Wow! If they change to Keurig's I'd save considerable space in my owner's locker. LOL

Just came back from OKW; was there December 25-30. Our room just had a regular coffee pot.
