Salad bar.. what's on your salad?

I know you don't see salad bars much anymore, but I am a huge fan of salads. I miss being able to make pretty much any salad I wanted with any combination of veggies and crunchy toppings ... yum!!

So in a perfect world with your perfect salad bar, what do you put on your salad?

Lettuce
Tomatoes
Red Onions
Chickpeas (I LOVE chickpeas!)
Broccoli florets
Peas
Cheddar cheese
Ranch dressing
Chow Mein noodles

There - my perfect salad.

If I'm in the mood for a sweeter salad (this is what I had tonight!)..

Field greens
Dried cranberries
Chopped Pecans
Raspberry vinaigrette

In the summer I'd substitute the dried cranberries for fresh blueberries and strawberries.

My son likes to make a "salad" of chick peas, ham cubes, and croutons and a leaf or two of lettuce lol.

Only, NOT this time if year... Stomach bug is BAD around here right now!

I will usually do
Iceberg,
Mixed greens,
tomato,
Green pepper,
maybe a few mushrooms and/or black olives.
maybe some zucchini.
and whatever else looks good.
maybe a bit of cheese, egg, or bacon bits.
Usually ranch dressing.
The rotini pasta salad with ham and peas on the side

Oh I would LOVE a big fresh salad right now!

Oh, I miss Ruby Tuesdays!! We had two in town and they both closed down. I wore black the day the last one closed. It was the last good salad bar in town.

I LOVE salad, eat it pretty much everyday in some combination or another. I have so many favourites I could hardly choose just one. I love greek pasta salads, asain noodle salads, leafy green salads, cabbage salads, bean salads, Mexican salads.... I could go on and on, YUM!

when my kids were younger, we would go to chuck e cheese and they had a salad bar...I loved it!

and they had some pasta salad that was Delicious and of course, the jello mixed with cool whip. Best part of chuck e cheese, salad bar!!! lol

I miss salad bars. The are rare now. I remember when every pizza place had one, even Wendy's had one. Now, it's Ruby Tuesdays, ChuckECheese, or the generic chinese buffet.

I don't know why they went away but I do know I won't eat at one. I also won't eat at buffets. Maybe it's just me being "weird and OCD" as my family says but they gross me out. Everyone leaning over and picking through them. Little kids at face level with the food and dirty hands all over the serving utensils. I just can't do it. I have a very hard time eating at restaurants in general and very rarely do so, eating at a salad bar or buffet is just to much for me!

I always assumed that they went away because they were expensive (but I could be wrong about that). But I do miss them! Now I have to go to Kroger to get a decent salad. But somehow their ranch dressing is sooo good!!

We have some places with salad bars that we love to go to, Sweet tomatoes and Soup or Salad. I love lettuce, black olives, peas, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and thousand island.

I love salads! Sunflower seeds and either Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing are my must haves. I like romaine or dark leaf lettuce, but will eat any! Spinach is awesome. Mushrooms, bell peppers, banana peppers, cherry tomatoes, carros, cucumbers, sprouts! Pretty much any veggie. Not a fan of those ham cube things.

Mazzios Pizza here has a decent salad bar. Jasons Deli always did too, but I havent been to one in a few years.

We recently discovered the Garden Grove at the Swan/Dolphin. We went there for the character aspect of the meal for my DD's birthday! They have an amazing salad bar with a chef there that will chop or toss your salad after you assemble everything. We asked our server if DGGrandma could just get a salad and soup and not buy an entree and she was only charged $19. Not bad for a Disney buffet for soup and salad and getting to meet two characters. The salad was fabulous

I love salads! We have tons of restaurants here
, lots of chains. Usually I'm not a fan of chains, but I loved this place in Boston tossed.com - the closest one to me is in NYC, too much hassle for a salad. And although salads are my favorite food, second would be sandwiches, third would be soup. Wish I had money to open a franchise - placed here like Chipotle are always packed.

I was going to check on her when I saw her reflection in the "sneeze glass", so I called her over. She was obviously chewing something and when we inquired, she exclaimed, "They had apples!". Parenting fail
