Yep, we are in the path of Irene, too ! Sposed to be 65-70 mph winds for as long as 10 hours starting tomorrow. We just dropped off DS at the world to do his internship til Jan. He is working at DD to start, alternating between a pin station, the Mickey sports store, and 2 others. If you see a Ryan from High Point U, give him your best for us. Talked to him last night after his first day of work, and he was super excited. He has wanted to work at Disney since he was 10 years old. He still hopes to work there after graduation. Have a great day !

I purposely did not buy eggs or additional milk for that reason. My DH was disappointed and ran out to buy eggs so he could bake cookies! He was shocked how crazy it was and how much was sold out.

I hope you will be enjoying those cookies with the power on at your house and no damage or flooding.

I can picture the grocery stores - we have the same sort of chaos any time the forecast in ATL calls for "snow" - even if just flurries.

I'm leaving for the airport hotel in a few hours. Fly to MCO at 7am tomorrow morning! Unfortunately, I'm sure I'll see the effects of Irene at Hartsfield airport with stranded travelers. :sad1:

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

No eggs, bread or milk were purchased by this household. We had some of all those things and I have no desire to try to keep them cold if the power goes off! We have all the "food" Bob needs. I have food I can eat. The dog has food she can eat. We have water. Cell phones and laptops are charged and all the things that were outside are either in the house or all bungee-ed together. We also bought a car charger for our cells and filled the tank with gas. I think we are set. The rain has just started but I don't see any appreciable difference in wind yet. Here we go! Stay safe, everyone!

Everyone in the path of Irene, stay safe! :grouphug:

Laura, have a great trip!

'Morning!

Congrats to your daughter - how exciting!! :thumbsup2

Stay safe - I'm heading to WDW this weekend but will be watching the news closely and praying for everyone's safety. :grouphug:

Just a warning, if you read this whole thread - you'll come away knowing more about our lives than about Kidani!!! We stray off-topic (hence the title "Lite"!!) :flower3:

AFAIK "infants" are not included in the people-per-room count. If you're allowed "5" I'm fairly certain that means 5 who are age 3 & over. :goodvibes

Oh thats a new one for me...AFAIK.... I like it!! I agree, cause it was always 4 plus an infant...and with the Kidani 1 bdr's that sleep 5, thanks to sleeper chair...5 plus an infant!

UGH I keep forget you are leaving....again:lmao:

Good Morning everyone! THinking good thoughts for all of you in Irene's path:) Hoping and praying she will not be the storm they are predicting!

For everyone else getting ready to go to WDW or there now, enjoy yourselves!

RacheilTori - thanks so much for the answer to my ?
And as far as reading the whole thread and learning all about you and your fellow posters....the more the better...I am a frequent "lurker" to both this and the BC/YC threads.....its like having an ongoing novel/biography to read...depending on the day and time!!!!!

Just want to extend my hopes and good thoughts that everyone on East Coast will be safe....I live in PSL, FL (east coast between WPB and Orlando) and we held our breaths for a few day...turned out to be a windy rainy day.

My brother and his family are on Long Island, NY where we grew up.....right in the line for a direct hit......I remember when Hurrcane Gloria "blew" thru....
yikes!!!

So all stay safe and remember common sense is your friend!!!!!

Robin

Hope to be able to "eavesdrop" on your thread on the other side of IRENE!

I'm glad you came out of lurk-dom and that we aren't disappointing you! ;) I'm sure some people come here for AKL/AKV information and can't believe some of our posts!!!

I'm originally from Bergen County NJ and still have family and friends up that way. Praying for everyone in Irene's path.

I'm posting this from an Atlanta airport hotel. I have a 7am flight Sunday morning so I like to play it safe and stay a short shuttle ride away! :) I will check back here when I'm able - and hope that our many Jambo friends and family are safe and life can get back to normal quickly.

Be safe everyone. :flower3:

Evening Jamborini's and Kidanites!! Hope everyone in Irene's path are safe and sound. If any of you can - give us an update!!

Laura, have a great time!!! :thumbsup2

Lots of heavy rain here compliments of Irene. Wind is starting to pick up. We have a long way to go.

Been raining 4 or 5 hours here so far. Sometimes heavy, sometimes not. No noticeable wind yet, but we are not supposed to get the brunt til after noon time tomorrow. Expecting 10"+ of rain. Gonna be a wild day tomorrow !!

Don't worry too much, but if you haven't already, do take a moment to walk around outside just to be sure all loose objects are secured down or taken indoors. (I still have some potted flowers I need to toss in the shed, but waiting for a skunk to waddle off first) By the time the storm is up to us here in MA my bet is that Irene will be considerably weakened... and hopefully, as pooh would say we'll be saying "It's a very blustery day" ;)

Good Morning Everyone! Hope this finds you all safe and dry.
Everyone has been in my thoughts and prayers the last few days.
We have been on a extended trip (driving) from out west to Wilmington, NC 2456 miles each way. Had a super great time, just got home when Irene started her trek up the east coast.

Warm wishes to all my friends here on the DIS.I am still around just been traveling. Kathy, congrats on your move...what fantastic news. Brandi, hope your foot is doing better. I will try to get back here later today.

Good morning Jamborinis and Kidanites!

Hope everyone is safe and dry! Currently heavy rain here in Central Jersey with scattered gusts. Electricity is still on and basement dry.

Spent the evening at my sister's house enjoying pizzas and hurricane cocktails.:woohoo:

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

We survived Irene. In fcatm the storm we had on Thursday night was worse! Our power just came back on after having gone off at 4:30 yesterday. I hope it stays on. There are over 4 million people without power on the East Coast!!
