Sake's Alive! AKL Lite V!!

Just switched from the dolphin to AKL. We are staying Std view for June 16th and CL for June 17-26! This is our third stay at the lodge but our 1st ever CL stay. Wanted CL for the whole stay but they didn't have any rooms available for the first night with the summer code. We did this as a surprise for our DS who is "graduating" elementary school. He has LD, ADHD and OT issues so school has been a challenge for him. We are just so proud of the progress he has made and decided to surprise him with an upgrade to his favorite resort. He has wanted to to stay CL and do the Sunrise Safari since he saw Samantha Brown on Great Hotels. I am almost bursting at the seams trying to keep it a secret from him!

Thank you for specifying where the rooms are. I had asked on a different thread but didn't see an answer. We will be doing AKL and CL for the first time 7/19-7/23. Only 97 more days to go!

They generally put CL guests in the first pod off the lobby - both Kudu (4210-4225) and Zebra (4407-4422) trails. They want you to be as close to the elevators as possible (for the 6th Floor Lounge), yet on the Savanna where you can enjoy the animals from your room. The IPO staff can add a room request for you. I usually just specify a trail: Zebra Trail is a little closer to the elevators.

Aww, what a wonderful surprise!!! Samantha Brown is the reason we stayed at AKL the first (5) times.......... LOL I know he'll LOVE it!!!! Hope you have a MOST wonderful time!!!!

That's AWESOME news!!

Do you have a visiting nurse coming in to help? Honestly, even if you think you won't need it.....you might want to schedule one for the first week, just in case.

Home Health (including nurses, physical and occupational therapists and speech therapists) will be here on a regular basis for some time to come. He is so much better than he was, but will still require monitoring on a daily basis. I am just delighted that he will be able to "fend" for himself a few hours a day. He feels as if there has been someone watching over him for weeks and weeks and weeks!

We have quite a few deliveries to look forward to over the next couple of days: hospital bed, wheelchair, walker, bathroom equipment, wheelchair ramp, feeding tube pump and food and one of these babies:

Bob calls it The Shaker, they call it The Vest. It helps clear out his airways for ease in breathing. There are two corrugated plastic tubes that come out the front and hook onto a vest that is wrapped around Bob. It shakes the heck out of him and loosens anything that needs loosening!

I love the BC and both PO's!! I have never stayed in a villa before. In an effort to cut cost, I was wondering if we were allowed to leave crockpots running when away?

Thanks for all the information AKL'ers! We check in for our first AKL visit in less than two weeks. We are staying April 28 - May 2 for a short getaway for me and DW. Third AK stay but first CL. Sounds like really no need to make room request, just sit back and enjoy!

That's a very good question. The 1-bedrooms are equipped with a full kitchen, so I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to use a crockpot. I would think as long as it's UL certified, the cord is in good shape, and you keep it on the low setting while you're out, it would be OK to leave on.

Maybe one of the other DVCers has a definitive answer(?).
