awwww, Cleveland isn't that bad.....which is why I constantly ask my husband when he can be transfered out of state

We lived in Ohio for a number of years. Our younger DD was born there but we always tell people she was born in Michigan! Actually, we have nothing against Ohio. Just very glad we live in Virginia!

Oh no! Thinking of you. I don't know the back story, but hope he gets well soon

My husband had a stroke on January 17. He has been hospitalized in three locations since that time, with lots of ups and quite a few downs during all these weeks. Thanks for the hug!

Corporate is in Cleveland -- so it's REALLY no fun going there!!

Our prayers and good thoughts that Bob will get well quickly and get back on track toward his recovery.

I still say, poor JD!

PNO4TE- you had to go there with the Michigan comment, didn't ya? I am sorry to hear about your husband. DH's gram had a stroke two weeks ago, and is having a rough time at recovery. One day things seem to be on the upswing, and then the next day is filled with complications. I will be thinking of you, and hoping for a speedy recovery for him.

For the BACON lovers:Have any of you heard of Michael Symon? A good ol Cleveland boy that has a string of succesful restaurants and is now on foodnetwork. Anyways, one of his restaurants BSPOT serves the following milkshake: Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon (you have the option of adding in a shot of bourbon). When I saw it on the menu the other day, I thought of all of you

Anyways, one of his restaurants BSPOT serves the following milkshake: Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon (you have the option of adding in a shot of bourbon). When I saw it on the menu the other day, I thought of all of you

Quick update on Bob... he has pneumonia again and an antibiotic IV has been started (again). This means his therapies and swallow evaluation have been put on hold until at least tomorrow. Poor guy can't catch a break it seems.

Thinking of Bob and you too !!!
I'll ask my younger kids for some more prayers ; be sure we keep you all in our thoughts !!!!

Dad is feeling unwell - but I cannot persuade him to go visit the cardiologist NOW !!! and Mom ( don't know why ) has fired last week the lovely young lady who has been taking so good care of them both since 6 years ago , when Dad had his first stroke ...
Now they are all by themselves in their big house , with no help ...
I cannot visit them until Saturday ,we are in "emergency" at my school ... nor can Marco , he is working in Paris ...
I'd send a nurse for the night - but Mom stated she won't open the door to a ... stranger ...

Oh no, sorry to hear this as well - hopefully your mom will come around and get another nurse ASAP!!!! And, I agree, your Dad needs to go to the dr. - hopefully you can convince them when you see them. Big Hugs - you are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Hello everyone! I am new to the AKL threads and I took advantage of the fall room discount that expired last sunday and booked for the end of Aug.I did it without much research beforehand and now I am having second thoughts about it.It is dh,myself,dd(9) and ds(1).I was only able to get a standard view room but I know my dd will enjoy being able to see the animals from the viewing areas they have around.We have been to AKL before to go to Boma's and liked the feel of it.We stayed at Poly last Aug and fell in love with it though-I really loved the space in the room and the pull out couch and chairs worked great for us.That is my big concern-the lack of extra space and no comfortable place to sit other than the beds.With my son running around and playing I liked the couch for him to use like a table while I sat and played.The bed is higher up.We will have a pack and play(or maybe renting a crib from outside) and I don't want to feel like we have no room.My dd loves to swim and the playground looks cute.I thought about Beach or Yacht club but for the extra money it didn't seem like a great choice because of lack of convienant quick service choices-with the kids we need to grab a easy meal for them.Can anyone help ease my doubts.

....but, srsly, you should enjoy the AKL and all it has to offer...the Mara is the perfect spot to enjoy counter service food - it has a fairly large and convenient dining room, or you can eat at one of the outside tables that are located near the pool area...
