Sorry to hear that everybody is suffering up north with the heat...it's another hot summer day in Austin, Texas.

Going back to our home away from home for the first time during Christmas.
And I'm soooo excited ....this will be my mom's first trip with us and I get to take my two nieces and nephew.

How exciting! There's no WDW resort I'd rather spend Christmas than AKL!

Congrats on your reservation!

The DME bus drops off at Kidani first; then Jambo House. (this may not always be the case. )

The park buses go to Kidani first, then Jambo. The Downtown Disney bus goes to Jambo first, then Kidani. The recording on the bus (if working) will announce each stop; other times the bus driver may or may not. You can always ask your driver if you're unsure.

Good Morning yesterday in NY it reached 108 and today maybe 100. I'd much rather be hot at WDW. Only 9 days to go until our first stay at AKL and we are so very excited . I just know we are going to have an amazing time.

It hit 103 degrees at Logan Airport (Boston) yesterday - at least in Virginia, it's supposed to be hot!! Now it's a huge thunderstorm, but they don't expect the heat to break until Monday anyway!

It's an indoor day today!

Anyway, I finally bit the bullet - I had a reservation at POFQ that I made when it was going to be a solo trip. Once DH agreed to go, and wanted to eat at Jiko, Boma and Sanaa, I booked my AKV studio through a travel agent and kept the POFQ ressie just in case.

Then I decided that even if I end up solo, I want the animals, too! So I cancelled POFQ to be fair to other vacationers, and I am definitely going to AKV! So excited!

Question - DH is coming in at midnight and will rent a car (I'm coming earlier and taking DME). He wants to stop at a grocery store & pick up some supplies. Anyone know of a 24 hour grocery not too far off the beaten path from MCO to AKL?

There is a WalMart super center not that far away that is open 24 hours

Call ahead to verify they are still open 24 hours, but we go there (they have beer, wine, bacardi frozen drinks with alcohol already in them, you throw them in the freezer and have a drink ready when you want)

Hi all I lurk here all the time. Will be at AKV Oct 19 thru Oct 30th and again Jan 21 thru 29. I've seen various meets mentioned but I have no idea on how to find out if any will be happening while I am there. Is there a thread that lists all the meets? You are all such a friendly bunch that I knew I'd find help here. Thanks so much.

I'll be at AKV-CL Oct 22-29 so maybe we'll see each other around there! franandaj and I were talking several posts back about a meet maybe on Thu the 27th at F&W. I was thinking setting up some sort of DISmeet for F&W time will work out better after 8/16 when people can start making their F&W event reservations...

Check the forum called "DisMeets" and if you don't see any threads about meets during your vacation dates, you can start you own thread. You can post the link to it here on the Lite thread!

Another idea is you can check Brandi's list and PM Disers who will be at WDW when you are.

However, I have not checked the DisMeets forum to see if something is in place by someone yet. Will have to do that...

Hi all, going for the first time in Oct. and staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm a little confused on the bus pick-up and drop off. So for Magical Express dose it go to Kindini Villigae or Jumbo House first. Same withe the park buse who gets picked up first and droped off first. I don't want to accidently go to the wrong part of the hotel. Also do they anncouce at which hotel they are at.

After the F&W bookings take place next month maybe we can try to put an End-of-October DisMeet together - I've mingled with a bunch on the Oct board and there's a bunch also there that week.

I usually hang out on the DVC boards, Disneyland forums and games area, so I'm not familiar with the Oct board. I looked on the DISmeets forum, but didn't see anything there....can anyone help out?

Our older daughter lives in Boston. She said almost exactly the same thing you did! It ought to be hotter in Virginia than in Boston, I agree... but our heat index was 128 yesterday. That is too danged hot for anyone, anywhere!

We will be there the last week too. Oct.22nd-29th

We arrive on property on the 27th (we are at Universal the two days prior), I agree that waiting until after August 16th is best so that we know what events we'll be attending for sure.

DL is my first love expecially since it's so close by, but WDW is too much fun too! I love living in Long Beach! Sacramento is a nice town, but soooo hot in the summertime! In the non summer months I usually get to DL often, so you never know, we may meet up in CA!

AKV question: Has anyone booked a dedicated 2 BR at Kidani? Does it have 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom or the normal bed plus sofa bed.

Most of my stays have been 1 BRs not 2 BRs. For my trip in '12, 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom would be great.

Sounds like we had a equally fun grocery shopping experience, Wendy! I was dealing with temps in the upper 90s and heat indices in the 118 range.
