Hello all....

Can you give me suggestions as to where you like to view the Party from?? What, in your opinion, is the best view on the ship for our Sail Away Party?

I am leaving in exactly ONE week and I couldn't be MORE excited!!!

TIA:)

What do you want? If you want to join the party, get on the deck in the middle of the action!

If you have something against partying, from the next deck up you can watch from a distance and watch the ship cruise down the channel heading out to sea.

Our favorite spot is on the top deck. You have a nice view, and it's not nearly as crowded.

Well, I wouldn't mind being in the middle of the action. I guess my concern with that is that my DD may have trouble seeing all the action in a crowd of adults. Does that seem to be the case? Or will she have no problems???

We were down in the middle of the action about 2 rows back from the stage and our dd's had trouble seeing. Being so close to the stage was fun and once we picked our girls up, their viewing problems were resolved. The party is shown on the screen so you can see what is happening if your view of the stage is obstructed. If you want the party vibe then the deck with the stage is where you should be.

In the future we will be on the top deck. That is where we were for the pirate party. Our view was better and there was more room for our girls to dance around. People were still having a great time on the top deck, just not quite so hyper as the crowd below us. lol

We went to the top deck, and it was perfect. We had a great view of all the action one deck below and of the big screen. DS was dancing and clapping right along with everyone else down below. I can't imagine holding him that entire time.

I don't like how they do the new sail away party on the Dream. They have the family pool open which gives it less deck space. We like to watch it from the uppermost deck. It's not as bad and if you want to make a quick retreat you can. We like to go back to our verandah to wave anyway.

I'm thinking that for those sailing out of NYC this year, the upper deck would give you a better view of the truly historic American landmarks that you will pass by along the trip out of the harbor. I love Mickey and Co. as much as the next guy but there is something very special about Lady Liberty. For those coming in from out of town it should not be missed.

Top deck is the best. You can get an overview of the party on the deck below. And I would also be on the terminal side of the ship. As the boat moves away from the port there are Disney Staff waving goodby to you with Mickey gloves on. Too nice, especially if you haven't done it before. Then you can turn back around and enjoy the party.

I agree with trimix that it depends what you want! We were on the Dream last year, and our experience was different because they had to move the Sail Away Party inside. Based on my research here, we tried to get an upper deck spot and found that many people pushed us around as they were trying to get to the railing. Maybe that only happens inside, but I don't know. So we bailed on the upper deck plan and went down to the main floor of the lobby. Our three boys couldn't see everything, but they had a great time dancing and just being a part of the action. So we know that being part of the action is more important to our boys than seeing the whole show.

This summer on the Wonder, we plan to head for the main floor, and we'll see what we see (although it must be even better when you have everything projected on funnelvision!)

Why, IMHO, the very best place to view the sail away party is while riding the AquaDuck of course!!! ::yes:::cool1::yay:

I have one other question about the sailing away party. I know we have to go to our drill sometime during the day. Do you just head straight to the deck for the party after your drill? :confused3

They had the family pool closed on my Fantasy trip for sailaway:

We were on the top deck, right down the middle. It was great, even with two little ones.

You can see the pool open on the Dream for this sailing better in this video http://youtu.be/xmMlJ04PrNI. I hope they did away with that. I misspoke, it was the Mickey pool. It still took away from deck space. When we had the Pirate party the whole deck was closed.

We retreated to our stateroom about halfway through because it was our third cruise. This is what you see looking out your verandah on the right side. It is also the same side that faces Castaway Cay when they dock. http://youtu.be/LFJA94Wb8sw

You are usually in your room about 1:30PM We had our Dismeet at 3PM before the Muster drill which is around 4PM, sail away takes place around 5ish.

Is there a mad rush to the deck for the party following the drills? How much time between the drill ending and the party starting and what is the quickest way to get there, I am assuming , NOT the elevators? Will the kids be able to get in front to see? These pics seem like there are alot of adults in the "front". Don't tell me it's going to be like gettineg a "parade spot"....:confused3

Everyone has their own experience with this. Unfortunately not everyone is aware of their surroundings at the deck party. There are a mixture of all ages at the party. There are people jumping and dancing closer to the front where the stage is. Our first cruise on the Dream my 3 year old at the time almost got trampled. We decided on the upper decks because it was less crowded. You do have to get there early if you want a space up front. But for the upper decks we had no problem getting a spot near the rail.
