Safety question ?

We are supposed to go to Virginia beach in a few weeks for a softball tournament. Do you think we should be worried driving down that way with all the stuff going on with the black lives matter events going on.

What are you specifically worried about? There is a lot of anger related to the actions of two specific law enforcement officers actions, but BLM is not condoning violence, to my understanding.

There are some individuals who have made comments that encourage violence, but individuals do not represent the group.

I am worried about these events happening while we are there. The looting and the starting fires is what scares me the most

I wouldn't worry about it. Violence can happen anywhere and at any time. If you start to see people gather in a way you see threatening, you can avoid the area at that time.

Awful things happen everywhere. There is no way to predict where the next big thing will happen...We were reminded Disney's not safe. Can't live in fear. Why would anything happen in Virginia and not where you live?

What makes Virginia Beach more likely to have "looting and the starting fires" then New York (which, I believe is where you live)? Is there something happening there or some connection to Dallas that I'm not aware of?

In the Rochester, NY 'Black Lives Matter' protest, the protesters surrounded the police officers and threw rocks at them. 74 BLM protesters were arrested.

In Baton Rouge, 30 BLM protesters were arrested for trying to incite a riot and blocking the highway.

If you see a BLM protest building, I'd just steer clear.

I can't tell you how to predict where or when these "events" happen, but they seem to be in big cities and on major highways. Have a map with you and if you see something ahead that looks like it's getting fishy, bail to an alternate route. That's sound advice for traveling any time. You never know what could happen. Major accident, fire, natural disaster, etc....Always be ready to get out of dodge.

if you are serious, and somehow, I am always afraid that you are serious, I would back slowly away from the computer, go to your liquor cabinet, consume mass quantities of alcohol, and then post. maybe the booze will clear your mind. to answer your question. no, for crying out loud no!!!!! hope this helps. please note, if you take my advice, do not drive...
