Safety question ?

LOL, and right back at ya! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Wait, I just want to make sure I understood your post and that you know I was answering your question/statement. I'm not trying to twist anything you said in any way. Did I misunderstand your post I quoted? It seemed a pretty straightforward question.

This is new to me, I didn't know personal firearms and service revolvers are interchangeable.

My understanding is that many departments allow off-duty carry of a personal weapon if it's approved by a superior. Others might get a CCW permit, which helps to cover more laws, such as the Gun Free Schools Act. I've read that an off-duty right to carry doesn't extend to school zones, but the law specifically exempts state-issued CCW permit ho,Drs.

Also, who the heck has a service revolver these days? I haven't seen one in over 15 years. Security guards perhaps, but not sworn police officers. I've heard that many departments only allow them for those grandfathered in.

@Hikergirl Did you put an order in with @kimblebee ? She's bringing all sorts of treats...I'm getting kinder eggs, but I think some have put an order in for hockey players.:-)
She's promised crisps, chocolates, hockey equipment, and...I almost forgot, a moose.

We can't forget the moose! I'm not mowing my lawn anymore so the grass will be high enough for him/her to eat when he/she gets here. I'm forward thinking here! :)

Thanks to all that educated me about the Kinder eggs!

@kimblebee I'd like some of those eggs in addition to my ketchup chips, please :flower1:

I think I'm good and don't need anything else. I have 2 dogs that would probably terrorize a moose, and hockey players, well the no teeth thing just weirds me out, so I'll pass on them too.

Not a cop, not married to a cop, so this is only my experience and word of mouth. My co-worker is married to a cop. They have small children, she and her husband are more comfortable leaving the gun locked up at work. His department offers that option.

I have met 1 K-9 officer in my life. He's the friend of a friend. He went through a long training program with his new K-9 partner, and his partner is with him 24-7. Supposedly, when he retires, so does the dog. If the dog retires before him, it becomes his pet.

That's typical for K-9 officers. It's a bit hard to create a relationship like that and just turn it on/off at the end of the work day. Dogs really need to be properly conditioned to be able to exist around people.

I remember playing pickup games at a local park with an officer who brought the dog he was training. Outside of the police work, that dog was extremely affectionate and great around kids. Most dogs want to be loved, and not just attack dogs.

I live in VA Beach and there is nothing happening down here. I am not aware of any protests, but I wake up, drive to work, drive home, go to bed. I can tell you we were at the beach Thursday evening and it was a typical July night at the beach. Families enjoying the ocean, boardwalk.

My daughter loves kinder chocolate. Lol

I'm with you, no thank you. Cadbury or Dove please.

I bought some Dove dark chocolate bars a few weeks ago and I don't think it's the same chocolate that it used to be. I was less than impressed. They probably have an American version now and ruined it all. :(

Wow! Been gone most of day - came back to kinder eggs and ketchup chips - just wow! Thought I was on the thread of an OP being afraid to go to VB - had to search to be sure. Some weird spinoff of original thread!! :crazy2: Makes about as much sense as the original!
