I was thinking about doing the pet tag, but most of my kids shoes don't have laces. Any good ideas on what I could buy or make for 5 year olds with our ICE info? I want something that will be difficult for someone else or THEM to take off so the emergency info stays put! Thanks.

i recall when i was little the schools did a fund raiser each year wherein they sold little stainless steel id bracelets (similar to the medic alert style). i imagine a person could still find these and simply have their cell number put on the them (then they could be worn year round with a consistant contact number). i recall that the clasps were such that the kid could not take them off.

at the beginning of each school year I buy the iron on tags that say "belongs to..." and put the rest of our info for their school uniforms. To reinforce the tag, after ironing I sew the edges. The iron on tags usually come with a nonwashable marker.

You said that the shoes are laceless...do they have velcro? If so, then you can use Who's Shoes ID tages. From what I've read, Disney CM know what they are & will look for them on a lost child. I have them & plan to use them on our trip to WDW next week. Here's the website:

If shoes shoes are just slip-on type, then I have read about some folks using permanent non-toxic marker to write info straight onto kid's forearm. Not my preference, but for safety, anything is better than nothing.

Good luck & have a great trip!

One idea a friend gave me is to print sticky labels with your phone number on it. "If lost call 555-5555" and they put it on the back of the child's shirt. They don't even notice it's their and even if they saw you put it on, they forget about it once there excitment grows as you are going to the park. This way if your child is lost whoever finds them can call the cell number, but their name is not shown so that someone cannot call them to the side by their name, etc. Hope this helps.

I found this idea somewhere here on Disboards, but I can't remember where.

You know those rubber bracelets that are so popular (Livestrong, etc) WDW has Mickey bracelets like that. Flip one inside out, and using a permanant marker, like a Sharpie, write your name and cell phone # inside, and let youur child know to show it to a CM if he/she gets lost.

I did it with my son that past August and had no problems with the ink transferring to his wrist... I used a Sharpie.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I especially like the laminated shoe tags and the livestrong bracelet ideas. I think I'll use both!
