Okay, I know I am a worrier, but I am hoping you experts can calm my fears. My 4-1/2 year old ds is very active, and he tends to have accidents/falls, like all other kids. Here are my main questions:

1. Does the shower/tub in the stateroom have safety strips on the bottom? My son will not take a bath, only showers (which is very convenient.)

2. Are the decks around the pools extremely slippery? I am very worried about this.

3. Are there any other things I should be concerned about, besides the obvious no running, watch where you are going, etc?

Thanks! We are sailing on 4/27...I can't wait!!!

Hi there.....we just returned 3-23....I too, have a very active 6 yo....I know what you mean!

1) the showers do have a non-slip coating on them, plus it can be a hand-held shower which, I think, comes in really handy with kids.

2) the pool decks do get really slippery...I saw quite a few kids "wipe out".....just really enforce the "don't run" and point out if someone does fall (it worked with my 6 yo)

3) can't think of much.....no hanging on the railings and NEVER stand on a chair near them or anytime!!

There are also poles in the middle of the walkway on deck 9 by the pools. They are now padded...On our 2000 trip my dd (6 at the time) slammed into one really bad and they weren't padded!! A huge goozer on her head!!! I think that is why they put padding all around them!!!

Other than that....Have a GREAT time!!!!!!!!!!!!

One hazard I found might not apply to your child being older than mine, but this might help others with younger ones. Be sure to keep the closet doors shut. DS was 8 months old and had started cruising(no pun inteded). He fell once near the closet and hit his head on the metal tracking for the door. At first I thought nothing of it but when it happened the second time I realized this was going to be a recurring thing with my "active" DS. So, I always like to warn parents of young one of that sort of hidden danger.
