Hi everyone,

Getting ready to PACK for my cruise (8/24 7-night Magic)!

I have already put aside the tip money for the end of the cruise into separate envelopes (dining servers, stateroom host, etc...), my question is......

Where is the safest place to pack it? Should I put it in the suitcases, in my carry-on or just carry it in my purse??

I appreciate all of the wonderful help I have gotten on this board!

THANKS!

I always carry my tip envelopes in my camera bag, along with any other paper valuables, such as our birth certificates, travelers checks, etc. I need to have it under my control at all times! But once you get on the ship, you can just put them in the safe...

I would say put them in the safe. What i do sometimes is to put that money down on my room account, and then get the vouchers towards the end of the week.

Rather than carry cash, why not get travelers checks? You can charge the tips to your onboard account and then settle up with the travelers checks at the end. Sure beats losing the cash (or worse).

Personally I carry a couple hundred bucks cash between DH and myself at the most. We charge EVERYTHING! If we need more, we hit an ATM.

I carried my tip envelopes with my docs and birth certificates and airline tickets in my carry on.

I would highly recommend paying everything with a credit card. That way you won't have to worry about carrying and losing alot of cash or checks.

When we travel, I only carry small bills for tips to bellhops and porters and maybe $100 for small purchases like a drink or snack. I charge everything else on my credit card. That way, I will have financial protection and a detailed record of all my spendings.

I do the same in my every day life. Plus, I only carry & use credit cards that have no annual fee but still offer a reward/rebate program. Since I make a point of paying off the entire monthly balance, the reward/rebate is pure bonus.

How to I put the end of the cruise tips on my credit card? How do they know how much to give each person?

I thought we had to do those tips in cash?

HELP!!

Thanks :-)

No, tips do not need to be in cash... they can be charged to your stateroom account. Simply visit Guest Services sometime your cruise (the lines will be shorter if you do this earlier rather than later) and they will give you vouchers that will have the proper person's name on it and the amount of the tip. Much easier than carrying cash, and if you have an onboard credit, it's a good way to use it.

We paid them all at checkout with the credit card, then they gave us a receipt and that's what we gave the CM's in an envelope that they provided us.
