Safe to put your name or photos on your door (magnets)?

Hi All, first time posting so can't put up link. Got mine on Ebay, very good and very inexpensive.

We have cruised DCL since 2003 and I use pictures of the kids from past cruises on the door. We have never had a problem. We actually got to see one of our room hosts last cruise who was working a couple sections down the hall because he recognized the kids from their pictures on the door and stopped to say hello.

I found that it was still less expensive than getting it at the stores around me where it was over $3.00 a sheet in a pack. It was around $50 for 30 pages.

I got the matte finish and am happy with the results.

heres the question of the day.... Where can I find magnetic paper to print magnets on? I bought it 2 years ago at hobby Lobby, and went yesterday to get some, and they no longer have it. Then I tried Michaels and office max, and neither place had it as well.

Michaels in St. Louis had lots of the 8X10 sheets of magnet paper, but I thought it was a bit expensive. What I did was print on photo paper, laminated the photos, and then put a magnet on each corner. I bought the smaller pack of sheet magnets from Michaels and then cut the magnets into strips to put on the back of each photo & tag. The magnet sheets were sticky on one side.

I didn't want to buy the 8x10 magnet sheet because I would be too worried that my printer would mess up while printing because I have an old printer that jams a lot.

Anyone tried vista print?

I did my DD's name through vista print. you get 10 in a pack. They didn't have a full size page one, at least that I could find. I actually got those for free and I think only a small fee for uploading my design. I had ordered several other things as well and I got free shipping.

I did some VistaPrint magnets. Small car magnet & XL magnet are both 8.5x11. If you don't have a code for free uploads, it is $5 per upload you use. I had free uploads & free magnets, but still paid alot for shipping (more than I really could justify per magnet & obviously more than I could have gotten the magnetic printer paper for). I was ordering other things though & still got them (a bunch since i included them in each order). They turned out fabulous! I am going to make more, and wish I could do it through them.

I checked out the car magnets too. It was basically $9.99 for 1. plus shipping. I wnet through a link from inbox dollars today and orders some free items, and it had the magnet I made at 6.99, but it just seemed too much to spend on a magnet. I did make notebook with a DCL logo on it and a tote bag with Disney on it and they were free with just over $4 for slow shipping.

Just out of curiosity (and I swear I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, I really am curious), what are people worried will happen if they put their first names or something like "The Jones Family" on their door?

Just got off the Magic--lots of names and pictures on doors. It definitely makes it easier to find your room. We had a white board on our door and someone wrote an inappropriate word on it in the middle of the night. We just kept the pen inside the room after that. I don't think anything was taken off doors. It looked like more were added as the days went by.

We got off the Magic on Jan. 15. We had magnets with our first names on Mickey ears on our door. I also made a 12x12 scrapbook page protector magnetic with strips, and had a different page for each day of our 7 night trip...so, day 1 was Key West, day 2 was At Sea, etc. Nothing left our door the entire voyage.
A note, though: we had trouble with the magnet staying attached...thank goodness for sticky tack! (Can you tell I'm a teacher???)
Good luck with all of your decorations! It's really fun and the kids were able to find our room easily!

amazon sells it in bigger packs than Staples (which also sells).

I bought mine on eBay for our last cruise and also for our upcoming cruise.

I received the sheets in less than a week. They sell these sheets in either matte or glossy and in various quantities.

Have fun with this - It's a very fun thing to do for your family!
I loved changing them out throughout the cruise.

My concern was our last name. When we went last summer, some CMs just asked for our last name and room number instead of our key. Someone could maybe take our name and room number since they walked by and make any purchases...

Well, wouldn't DCL be liable for the costs those people charged then? Since it's going against their policy of asking for the KTTW card?

Oo, that's a good point. They are supposed to ask for your KTTW card, but if there are CM's who aren't doing so, then it's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone could do that.

We have our first names on our FE, as well as on some of our door magnets. I don't think I have our last name on anything, though.

While I agree that they would, I would first have to figure out that the charge wasn't mine (and if it was a $20 charge at the pool, it would be hard for me to pick out) and then I would have to go and complain. It was just the reason we took down our last name magnets, we left up all the first name ones.

Lots of pictures and door decor on the Dream. No tape allowed.

I used the DCL cruise brochure cover - you know - the one with the port hole and put a collage of our face cutouts in the porthole with Captain Mickey. We got a DCL packet in the mail after our cruise deposit with Bon voyage ___________ family. I made a cut out decoration from that.
You can purchase card stock punch out disney characters in the scrapbooking section and attached small peel and stick magnets (found at JoAnn's fabrics)
