FIL is retiring and needs to ship a 1976 motorcycle from central Illinois to Tucson, Arizona. We have never done anything like this before and don't even know where to start looking. Does anyone have any experience with freight carriers of this type? How do you make sure the carrier is reputable and get a good deal at the same time? TIA for any help.

I have used these guys befor http://www.forwardair.com/

But it was for only new bikes that were in the crate.

The dealer's I got them from would drop them off at the forwardair office then they would call me when they got them in.

I used them about 8 diff time's and would use them again.

I just had a bike shipped in from Ohio to Jacksonville, FL and it costs me $350 with forward air. They also have special motorcycle containers but that costs more, but I don't know how much. It was here in two days and they were great!! I picked it up yesterday. DH is soooo happy today!!!!:hyper:

Contact All Coasts Transport and they will explain you how to ship a motorcycle from Ilinois to Arizona. And they will give you a possible price for it too. Google for them I'm not allowed to paste links.

You could also try FedEx. My dad had a collector's car shipped from MI to CA with FedEx and they were great. Neither of us had ever known they shipped cars and such. I'd wager they have some arrangement for motorcycles.
