Sadly, cancelled Disney cruise, booked Royal Caribbean...

I made up my mind and booked a Junior Suite on the Navigator for an Eastern cruise next year. Even with the Junior Suite, it came to $2247 less than Disney. We would have only been able to take the Western Disney, which we've done (on another cruise line).

I wish Disney was cheaper...or we didn't have to worry about Spring Break.

sadly we cannot all afford to vacation 5 star style all the time, i know i cannot, but at least you experienced disney which all people should be able to do and now you can get a taste of other things, besides you always have the parks at disney-keep that head up and have fun

We are taking our first DCL cruise 8/06! I said I have to go Disney once. I plan on returning to RCCL after that though. I had to book 18 months out to afford this one. You will not be unhappy on RCCL. I have sailed with them 2x's and have always received top notch everything. Well, we are not to picky about food, but we thought it was very good. Enjoy your suite!

You will enjoy RCCL. I have also sailed them twice and the Voyager class ships are wonderful. Saving over 2,000 is great! Enjoy your cruise.

Don't woory...I'm sure that you'll be able to experience Disney one day.
And I do have to say that if I were to have to chose another cruise line besides DCL, then I would go with Royal Caribbean!

Don't worry- you will love RCCL- wonderful ships, food and programs. I am a Disney Freak- we go at least once a year, are DVC members, etc. but I just cannot afford to do the 7 nighter. We have 3 kids- one in high school, one in middle school and one in Elem. and the price for the spring break week or Feb. break week is well over 11,000 for family of 5!! I can do the same cruise in a Grand Suite on a Voyager Class ship for $6,000 for a much bigger stateroom and concierge service. I have been dying to do a Disney cruise since they started but we opted to do the 4 night Wonder (it was still very expensive!!) and then spend a week at the Disney Hilton Head Island Resort where we can use our DVC points. It's the only way we could do it!

With the junior suite you'll enjoy priority boarding and special services. You'll have a great time!

dont worry you'll still have fun on RCCL....the main reason why DCL is so much expenser is because DCL doesnt have Casinos which bring in a lot of money for every other cruise line.

Don't feel so blue..I cancelled too and jumped ship with RCCL on the Mariner, western for March.. Just have to find out for sure if the grass (ocean) is any greener (bluer)on the otherside. Change is good, I'll miss DCL this time around, I'll get my DW fix before we go and just maybe it will ease the apprehension and withdrawal. The savings was just too tempting to pass up. I just hope the words don't ring in my ears...you get what you pay for.

Just curious what there is to do on the RCCL for a hmm..say 9yo boy and 6yo girl? (we are leaving in 1 week on our DCL but I may just book RCCL for the next time if it is that much cheaper..as long as I know my kids will be entertained. Thanks

mini golf, ice skating, sports, children's clubs with a full array of activities...I think all of their counselors have 4 year degrees in a related field, pools. The clubs will be great fun!

No offense, but we think that the difference in price is well worth it. Our grandson(see the avatar) still talks about the cruise 2 years later!

No offense taken. We shall see how it compares to our Disney cruise, which just ended There's always 2007.

I'm a proud member of RCCL Crown & Anchor Society. We love RCCL it is a very nice cruise line and they really pamper you. I've never been on DCL but I can't imagine I will as we can go so much cheaper on RC and we love it so we don't know what we're missing. RCCL also has a private island, near Nassau, called Coco Cay and it is pure heaven. Not all ships go there but it is wonderful. Don't panic I really think you will enjoy. And the Jr Suites are wonderful.

We have done 2 DCL cruises and yes we loved both of them. I do feel that the price is too high. We are disney lovers and go every year to the parks but our next cruise next year will be RCCL. I feel the Disney ships do not offer enough physical activities for my kids. We like to do things as a family as in skating, minigolf,rock climbing and the Disney ship comes up short in that particular area. Now that my kids are older and have met every single character about 25 times that characters are not as big a draw as when they where younger. The pools are another area where you get more on RCCL then you do on Disney. I was dissappointed in DCL pools. I would rather spend the money on a vacation to the parks then on the DCL where you get less for your money then you would on a RCCL. I am glad we did DCL for castaway it is my favourite but RCCL has their own beach too. I am also glad we did it when the kids were younger now the are 11 and 9 so i feel RCCL will be more appropriate now.

I kind of feel like I am by myself in this thought, but here goes...

We have done DCL, RCCL, Carnival, and the Big Red Boat (Premier). Premier is gone, will NEVER do Carnival again, liked RCCL well enough (room was like a closet--and it was a deluxe oceanview, food OK, shows fair, activities OK, too much smoke in casino for our liking). For my family, DCL was the most fun, the most relaxation, and the most enjoyed. Our kids opted to skip a WDW vacation in a year, and chose to wait the year to do DCL again. After cruising on DCL, they were not interested in RCCL, and they are "typical" boys (13,11,8).

The money we would have saved would have resulted in a different itinerary than we want (fixed vacation week because I'm a teacher), and wasn't anywhere near $3000 -- (more like $500) especailly with a room of the same square footage. Keep in mind that I am comparing pricing with the rates we got after we rebooked on DCL with 10% discount and $400 stateroom credit-2 rooms.

I guess what I am trying to say is it is a decision to be made by individual families. For us, and maybe we are in the minority, but for right now, DCL is well worth it for us. PLease don't take this as negative attitude toward others who have gone over to other lines. I certainly respect your decisions and your reasons for leaving DCL. I have just been watching these boards and feel like I want to put my 2 cents into the pot.

Thank you all so much! I second guessed myself, but $7600-7800 is so much compared to $6117 (Junior Suite) with a 12.5% rebate after the cruise. Plus, the activities...

We can always come back to Disney later
