An Orange County Deputy Sheriff was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop last night. The young man was 27 years old and had been a deputy sheriff for 4 years. His wife of 1 year is also and Orange County Sherrif.

That's terrible. My heart goes out to his family.
They'll never be the same. Damn, been hearing too much of this type of thing lately.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a "routine" traffic stop. It's one of the most dangerous parts of a police officers job. They never know who or what they might encounter when approaching a car.

Were they able to apprehend whoever did this?..
Same thing went on earlier in the year in the Tampa area.
Scary stuff.

They did- the moron had a rap sheet a mile long. He shot himself in the head before they could catch him They don't know if anyone else was involved. According to the sheriff, traffic stops and domestic disputes are the most dangerous calls his deputies get. Take care Phyllis - I know you have a son who's a police officer.

The ******* who comitted this crime made a lot of bad decisions which lead up to this situation, where he took the life of another human being. At least his final decision was right, he took his life like the coward he was and saved the family of the officer a lot of pain if this had to go to trial.

We recently had a case in Michigan where an officer was killed in the line of duty and the jackbutt who shot him claimed the officer fired the weapon and killed himself, his lawyer was a real richard head and got a lot of attention for the trial. The family was put through hell.

A good friend of ours was recently awarded an honor for bravery with his partner at the statehouse. They had responded to a domestic dispute and were greeted with gunfire when they got there. Fortunately, in this case, our friend survived with no injuries, the perp did not.

I am sorry to hear about this officer, way too young.
